We only have two days of sales since the game was released on a Saturday, but it still managed to top the charts. Monster Hunter 3 is, as expected, off to a tremendous start with 583,000 copies sold over the weekend. Those numbers makes the game the third best-selling home console third-party title in Japan. Taiko no Tatsujin Wii is at 583,000 units sold while Metal Gear Solid 4 has surpassed the 700,000 mark.

First Monster Hunter 3 review score, rated by Famitsu

Update: A second report states that the game received 10s from each reviewer – We’ll wait for a 100% confirmation, but it looks like the game did indeed receive a perfect score.
Monster Hunter 3 was released in Japan over the weekend, but no Famitsu review was provided in last week’s issue. Typically, however, the magazine waits a few days to review some of the bigger titles. This week, Famitsu reviewed the game and gave a very favorable score all around. Three reviewers awarded Monster Hunter 3 with tens while only one other editor handed out a nine. The combined scores fall just shy of perfect. Monster Hunter 3 is yet another title to have received an outstanding review score in recent weeks – Dragon Quest IX was the other, with 40/40.

An official announcement is expected tomorrow, but Activision has already confirmed that the title will launch on November 10.
Capcom teasing sequel “that will blow your mind”

Capcom has been very, very good at teasing announcements. In fact, there was a whole ordeal leading up to E3 on their Twitter regarding a secret announcement. Now Capcom’s at it again, but fans will have to wait awhile to find out what mystery lies ahead. On the company’s official Twitter account, there is a tease relating to a sequel “that will blow your mind.”
“In five, we’re having a meeting to discuss a new game sequel that will BLOW YOUR MIND when you find out about it… much, much later.”
As is usually the case with these types of secrets, we don’t know what Capcom is cooking up. That means the genre of the game, platform, etc. are completely unknown. Sadly, we’ll have to wait awhile before the mystery is unveiled.
