This is a downloadable play, not a retail play. We don’t actually have any retail rights on this project. And there’s no way to get anywhere near the Wiiware filesize limit here.” – Christian Svensson, Corporate Officer/VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development

The upcoming issue of Nintendo Power promises to have the scoop on Red Steel 2. Previously, NGamer was supposed to have an exclusive on the game, but that never fell through. The next issue of Nintendo Power goes on sale May 12. Meanwhile, the magazine has put the table of contents online and reconfirms that the game will utilize Wii MotionPlus (in addition to a reconfirmation that the game still exists). You can latch onto this until information pours in: Nintendo Power says, “Finally, wielding a sword in a Wii game feels as real as you’d always dreamed!”

Darkside Chronicles producer “not afraid” of MadWorld sales
Posted on 15 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii | 0 comments
“I’m not afraid at all. I think it’s going to sell. If you look at the previous installment, it sold quite well, and again the Resident Evil brand is incredibly strong, and it’s known throughout the world.” – Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles’ chief producer Masachika Kawata
I’m not too concerned about the sales of Darkside Chronicles. Like Mr. Kawata said, Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles sold respectably, and considering Darkside Chronicles falls under the RE franchise, it’s a sure-fire bet that the game will do well in the market.

Dead Space won’t be any less violent on Wii

“We’re definitely not planning to water it down at all for the Wii, but again, we’re not going to add in shock value just to have that. First and foremost we want to make a great game, and we want to make a great game that makes sense in the Dead Space universe. When we were working on Dead Space the original, we wanted to make a game that was terrifying, action-packed, kind of hit on all those things that people want to experience in a survival action horror game. We went all-out to do that. I think now that the expectation is that a Dead Space game has those kind of elements. We’re not going out of our way to make it extremely violent, it’s just the story is what the story is, and it’s not a pretty story.” – Dead Space: Extraction exec producer, Steve Papoutsis
I was never really concerned that Extraction’s violence would be toned down just because it’s being created for the Wii. From the outset, developers have stressed that they’re looking to create a Dead Space experience on Wii…Which includes a good amount of violence.
