REDMOND, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Continuing its commitment to create fun and engaging experiences for everyone, Nintendo of America Inc. today unleashes a broad list of exciting new games for the first quarter of 2009. Topping the list is Pokémon™ Platinum version for Nintendo DS™, a remarkable new entry in the beloved Pokémon series, slated for a March 22 launch across North America. Nintendo’s roster of more than 100 new games includes an impressive array of challenges and experiences for new players and loyalists, as well as everyone in between. Notable titles include the enhanced New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis™ and New Play Control! Pikmin™ for Wii™, and Fire Emblem™: Shadow Dragon, Personal Trainer™: Math and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars for Nintendo DS.

“Our fans expect a diverse selection of entertainment options, and we’re eager to deliver exactly that,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “We’re building on the momentum of a strong holiday season by offering new and experienced players an even greater library of game titles in 2009.”

These rumors come from Game Lab, a well-known Japanese magazine that have been translated. Keep in mind that these rumors may turn out to be nothing at all.

* The popular RPG series “T” by game company “N” will see several releases in 2009. There are said to be six games in development, both outsourced and within the company, and at least one “T” game will hit every single current gen platform next year.

* Although the DS rhythm game sequel “R” by game company “N” received mixed reviews due to its change of input method from buttons to stylus, it performed so well that “N” has begun developing a Wii version. Staff from this year’s Wii music game “W” are reportedly involved.

* Game company “S” is attempting to headhunt employees from American game company “L” to assist with its virtual online experience, “H”..

* Game company “N” is said to be working on a second iteration of its fitness game, “W”. New features apparently include stretching and massages. A certain former U.S. Army instructor has reportedly been approached about endorsing the game.

The Wii has, generally speaking, not been the lead platform when it comes to developing most games. More often than not, Wii games are ported from a PS2 version or are worked on by not as important teams. Well, according to N’Gai Croal, companies should begin to change their ways and make the Wii as the lead platform.

“So with Nintendo as top dog, I think it’s time for publishers to throw it a much bigger bone by leading development on Wii, then up-porting the games to the more powerful systems, which should result in a larger addressable audience.” – N’Gai Croal

I feel that such a suggestion is probably unrealistic at this point. It seems as though sales numbers are mostly dominated by first-party software and only a few-select third-party titles do well.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess launched in 2006, so naturally, Zelda fans are clamoring to hear word on the next title in the series. Shigeru Miyamoto has confirmed multiple times that the next Zelda is underway, but now he has also stated that it might be awhile before it is actually revealed.

“I’m really not sure when we’ll be able to make a public announcement on that. I can’t even say if the next E3 will be the right opportunity to do so. But rest assured, our teams are working on new projects right now.”

It’s possible that if the next Zelda title is not discussed at E3 2009, Nintendo might show it off at their annual Fall conference. Even if it takes a fairly long time to see images and video, we know that the Zelda team will work hard to deliver expectations.

– Rock Band 2 review coming on Wednesday
– Everything on PS3/360 will eventually be available on Wii (DLC)
– Bozon says World Tour star power isn’t very well-done in Guitar Hero
– Actual gameplay in Rock Band is better than World Tour
– Track selection also better in Rock Band 2
– Daemon loves that you can play through Rock Band 2 solo, or bring in friends
– Overall the IGN team is very impressed with Rock Band 2

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Fighter

– Bozon’s really interested in the game
– Bozon will probably end up reviewing it
– Members of the Smash Bros. team and Ex Team-Ninja
– Darker look to the game – more edgy/aged up
– 4-player Smash style game
– No single-player like Subspace Emissary, it will be something else (might just be staged based)
– Can use different controller options
– Sounds like a cool project
– Going to try to have better online than Brawl
