“Via the DSi Shop you will be able to download games and we don’t have anything to announce yet in terms of demos, but I’d be pretty surprised if we didn’t go that route. It seems like something that would be pretty easy to pull off and pretty useful.” – Charlie Scibetta, Senior Director of Corporate Communications of Nintendo of America

“The DSi is backwards compatible to the DS and DS Lite, we don’t have anything to announce in regards to past libraries or catalogues of games coming to the DSi Shop channel. I don’t have a lot of details about what is going to be available in the DSi Shop channel, but when it comes out next year we’ll have much more details on what you can check out.” – Charlie Scibetta, Senior Director of Corporate Communications of Nintendo of America

Scibetta also mentioned that Nintendo iss aware of “the desire” to see a new Kid Icarus game and they are “definitely thinking about it.” Still, the company has nothing to announce at this time.

Rumors have been circling around as of late that Nintendo has a WiiHD system in development and has been showing it off to a few select people. Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter has commented on the speculation and is “absolutely convinced” that a Wii HD system is being created by Nintendo. “A Wii HD would really position Nintendo well, which is why I’m absolutely convinced there is a Wii HD coming. Businesswise, they can’t have people saying that their machine is a toy for my mom.”

Socialising and communicating with friends and family has just got easier – and more fun – as the new Wii Speak accessory and Wii Speak Channel are launched for Wii across Europe on 5 December 2008.

Wii Speak enables people to connect to and communicate with friends using the free-to-use Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection* in a way that is very socially inclusive. Wii Speak can be connected directly to the console and pick up the conversations from an entire room of people, meaning friends and families can all get involved in conversations, sharing gaming and social experiences together. It’s just like using a phone to make a call and chat with other Wii-friends: but with Wii Speak, everyone in the room can get involved in the conversation.

The new Wii Speak Channel, accessed from the Wii’s main menu, allows up to four console users – who can be anywhere in the world – to connect together to chat, or to share pictures and text messages at no extra cost. Once connected, the Wii Speak Channel brings user’s Miis to life: as users’ Miis represent them on-screen during their conversations. When players are talking to each other, their Miis also ‘talk’ to match the sound that is being picked up by the Wii Speak accessory.
