Dunaway: Mario won’t be on Facebook, E3 talk, Wii not getting another price drop anytime soon

Dunaway on the appeal of Metroid: Other M…
“Well, you can’t get access to Samus and the Metroid franchise on the other platforms. And this experience isn’t about the graphics at all. It is a shooting game. But it is a much more emotional experience with story to it.”
Dunaway on Nintendo’s first half line-up, beating revenue numbers from last year…
“We certainly agree that we have a great line-up of games — and games that appeal to all types of audiences, from Super Mario Galaxy 2, to Metroid Other M, to FlingSmash on the Wii. Great software sells hardware. We see that time and again. We have the kind of products that will allow us to have strong momentum this year. The pacing of the software releases is different than it was last year. That will benefit us and the retailers.”

Shin’en working on two new games for WiiWare
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii | 0 comments
“We currently concentrate on WiiWare. For this year we have two new games that are in genres we didn’t entered before. Of course we try again to make the best game in that genre on that platform. I think we just like the challenge to go beyond and not to repeat ourselves.
One of the games will be in the racing genre. It gives really a new definition of speed, trust me on that. The other one is the first of its kind on WiiWare. We will soon have an announcement for it. Both games have very high production values, even for our standards.” – Shin’en cofounder Manfred Linzner
We’ve only seen a few WiiWare projects from Shin’en so far, but they’ve been quite impressive. I’m also a fan of some of the company’s other titles, like Nanostray for the DS. Because of that, I have to say that I’m very interested in Shin’en’s new WiiWare titles.

Activision Blizzard: Gamers will be amazed by new title

Martijn Kroon Stuiver, PR Manager of Activision Blizzard Benelux, recently sat down with Netherlands website Wii-DS. Stuvier was pushed by the interviewer from Wii-DS, who noted that the company does not have many titles coming to the Wii and DS. In response, he said:
“There’s a lot coming up, but it isn’t announced yet. I’m pretty sure you’ll be amazed by at least one specific title.”
Stuvier was then asked if an old franchise will be returning, but said nothing more than “no comment.” Obviously, that’s not much to go on, but it looks like Activision has something special in development for either the Wii or DS (or perhaps both systems).

Monster Hunter Tri getting one of the biggest marketing pushes for a third-party Wii game
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii | 1 Comment
“…I mean, we’re a very big country. Traveling to see friends just to play a game head-to-head, where both people have to have their own hardware, is not something I think that has lent itself to broad appeal. The fact that Tri will have both split-screen and online play, I think will allow for some interesting dynamics in terms of community generation that we previously haven’t been.
The other part of this is a massive marketing push, the likes of which I’m not sure anyone has seen on a Wii title from a third party, that we’ll be seeing across the West when it ships. So, big marketing push. Online play.
The other part of this is Monster Hunter, as a series, is a hard series to learn. It is unforgiving and very, very complex to learn. Very complex systems. Tri is a little bit easier to get into. There’s a much gentler learning curve in Tri than there’s ever been in any of the other Monster Hunters. That’s not to say it’s dumbed down, but it’s much more accessible.” – Christian Svensson, VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development at Capcom U.S.
I’m really glad to see that Monster Hunter 3 will be heavily advertised. I’m also happy that Nintendo is starting to take more of a helpful role with third-parties. Hopefully Monster Hunter 3’s marketing will make the game a huge hit for Capcom. We know that the game is good, now we just need it to sell!
