World’s first rock climbing game incorporates Wii MotionPlusTM for intense realism

San Diego, Calif.-March 2nd, 2010 -Human Soft today announced it is developing HardGrip, the first extreme rock climbing game for Wii™. Experience the thrill and adrenaline of free soloing some of the most amazing rock walls in the world with vertigo-inspiring graphics, a pulse-pounding soundtrack, and dizzyingly realistic climbing action. HardGrip supports the Wii MotionPlus™ for even greater precision and authenticity. Compete against other climbers and hone your skills to earn respect and become the top extreme climber.

HardGrip takes players on a tour of exotic and stunning locales around the globe as they compete in open events or invitation-only official races. With no harnesses or lifelines, players must solve seemingly impossible challenges and conquer their fear to make it to the top. Speed counts, but climbers who prove their ingenuity and daring will earn more respect. As climbers progress, their skills will have to become truly awesome to make the grade.

Martijn Kroon Stuiver, PR Manager of Activision Blizzard Benelux, recently sat down with Netherlands website Wii-DS. Stuvier was pushed by the interviewer from Wii-DS, who noted that the company does not have many titles coming to the Wii and DS. In response, he said:

“There’s a lot coming up, but it isn’t announced yet. I’m pretty sure you’ll be amazed by at least one specific title.”

Stuvier was then asked if an old franchise will be returning, but said nothing more than “no comment.” Obviously, that’s not much to go on, but it looks like Activision has something special in development for either the Wii or DS (or perhaps both systems).

Thanks to Dragoon for the news tip, as well as the translation!

“…I mean, we’re a very big country. Traveling to see friends just to play a game head-to-head, where both people have to have their own hardware, is not something I think that has lent itself to broad appeal. The fact that Tri will have both split-screen and online play, I think will allow for some interesting dynamics in terms of community generation that we previously haven’t been.

The other part of this is a massive marketing push, the likes of which I’m not sure anyone has seen on a Wii title from a third party, that we’ll be seeing across the West when it ships. So, big marketing push. Online play.

The other part of this is Monster Hunter, as a series, is a hard series to learn. It is unforgiving and very, very complex to learn. Very complex systems. Tri is a little bit easier to get into. There’s a much gentler learning curve in Tri than there’s ever been in any of the other Monster Hunters. That’s not to say it’s dumbed down, but it’s much more accessible.” – Christian Svensson, VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development at Capcom U.S.

I’m really glad to see that Monster Hunter 3 will be heavily advertised. I’m also happy that Nintendo is starting to take more of a helpful role with third-parties. Hopefully Monster Hunter 3’s marketing will make the game a huge hit for Capcom. We know that the game is good, now we just need it to sell!

It’s a Mega Man-Filled March as Capcom Unleashes a new Digital Classic for WiiWare, PlayStation®Network and Xbox LIVE Arcade
SAN MATEO, Calif. — March 1, 2010 — Capcom® Entertainment, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, announced today that Mega Man® 10 has been launched on Nintendo’s WiiWare™ service. The PlayStation®3 version will follow on the PlayStation®Network next week, March 11th and the Xbox LIVE® Arcade version for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft will launch on the Xbox LIVE® online entertainment network on March 31st. Mega Man 10, the latest entry in Capcom’s long-running series, will return gamers to the nostalgic perfection of classic 2D Mega Man® gameplay, embracing retro platform action and Nintendo Entertainment System™-inspired old-school graphics.

The year is 20XX and a suspicious outbreak of Roboenza, a Robot Flu, has broken out. It spreads through the world like wildfire bringing down robots everywhere. Infected robots have rampaged out of control, destroyed the city and are holding it hostage! Who’s behind this mess? It’s up to Mega Man to take on this sinister threat and get to the bottom of this viral mystery.

Zallag is proud to announce a new game created specifically for the WiiWareTM : Gods vs Humans. A game developed by Artefacts Studio.

This is a strategy game taking place in a universe mixing goofy characters and the greatest mythologies. Starting with the Norse mythology, the player will be able to
embody Odin, Thor and many more Divinities later on. Humans were bold enough to challenge the Gods and it’s up to the player to teach them a lesson!

Based on real mythologies, Gods vs Humans takes the player through over 50 levels. Presenting as an unlikely but effective mix of Lemmings, Populous and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicle: My Life as a Darklord, this game also has a multiplayer mode for Homeric confrontations.

Course: Luigi Circuit
Objective: Complete the race
Restrictions: Bikes only, Wii Wheel only
Tournament date: 3/1 – 3/10

The number 10 can mean a lot of things: perfection, loud volume or, in the case of this week’s downloadable game lineup, the return of a true gaming icon. Fans will thrill to see the legendary blue bomber landing on their Wii™ console with the arrival of Mega Man™ 10 for the WiiWare™ service. Elsewhere, players can test their skill at tossing darts, bashing moles, conquering the tennis court or tackling exotic golf courses. Whether you’re stocking up on living room-ready titles for your Wii console or grabbing on-the-go games via the Nintendo DSiWare™ service, March is off to a truly magnificent start.
