Rumors

megaman9.jpg

I’m sure most of you guys know how things go…Someone claims to have surreptitiously taken a snapshot of concept art, video footage, or screenshots. This time around, some guy claims that he was able to snag a quick cellphone shot of Mega Man 9. Sounds crazy, right? The same person also provided some details:

– You can play as Blues.
– The graphics are in the 8-bit sprite style, but not the classic Famicom/NES one.
– It doesn’t have anything to do with the X series.
– Tango is in it, and works just like the Rockman World Game Boy version.
– The game doesn’t support full wide screen YET, but it will.
– It does support 480p.

It seems very surprising that someone would be able to report on the game, but I can’t help but want this all to be true. E3 is just around the corner, however, so I’m positive we’ll hear something about the game then.

Speculation has been ongoing the past few months concerning Mii-like characters for the Xbox 360. An enormous leak has been discovered on Intellisponse’s website, however, which seems to point to actual evidence that such characters are in the works for Xbox LIVE. The new characters are supposedly called Avatars and are a more realistic representation of people than Miis. Nothing is confirmed at this point, but this is definitely a clear piece of possible evidence that the Avatars are the real deal.

Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. has been rumored to be in development for the Wii for a considerable amount of time. No official announcement was ever made, but the speculation continued. H.A.W.X. does seem slightly possible to be releasing on the Wii at this point – an IGN listing was discovered for the title in addition to a recently added GameStop and GameFly retail listings. Most speculate that the game may be revealed at E3 for the Wii, although we’re still far from an official confirmation.

– KOTOR 3 (An MMO, and a joint project between Lucasarts and BioWare)
– Battlefront 3
– “The Official Indiana Jones” game
– “another LEGO game based on the Indy universe”
– “a lightsaber game for the wii (sorry, no lightsaber peripherals)”

This list apparently comes from an previous employee of LucasArts. Out of everything on that list, a lightsaber game and a new LEGO Indiana Jones title seem the most probably for Wii.

Both Microsoft and Sony have had rumored Wiimote lookalikes in development for quite some time. Although not nearly identical, the sixaxis PS3 controller is the closest thing to the Wii remote. Sony may be pushing its motion control further, as a new rumor has surfaced. Allegedly, a number of PS3 owners were taken to an undisclosed location in California, in which the participants were able to try out a new PS3 controller (which is very close to that of the Wiimote.) At the event, games like tennis and paintball were up for testing, in addition to a modified version of Quake on someone’s laptop. However, the PS3 controller is far from complete, as one downside it was its usage of a tripod and many issues need to be hammered out.

At Ubisoft’s recent event – Ubidays – a representative confirmed a Prince of Peria spin off for the Wii. The Wii will not be receiving the main title that will be releasing on the 360 and PS3, but the spin off Prince of Persia for the Wii will apparently be based off of it. This information has not been officially confirmed, although it does seem like a tangible possibility. No specific details were provided by the representative, however.

Those who have been patiently waiting for a better Wii package to show up may have their wishes fulfilled. Allegedley, a new SKU has entered a temporary condition of “early warning.” The stock with the current SKU tags will be replaced with Wii consoles with the newer labels in 90 days. It is not known whether or not this new SKU could mean a new bundle, colors, or something completely different.

A good number of people have awful memories of the Super Mario Bros. from 1993. The movie was, perhaps, the biggest reason as to why some cringed at the thought of a live Zelda film. A Metroid movie, however, has been believed to be in production for many months now. Another rumor has been spreading which involves the producer of the film. Rumor has it that Micheal Bay, who most recently finished work on Transformers, will be producing the movie. Currently, Bay has film related work up until 2010, in which three movies will be released in 2009 and one for 2010. In one year four movies that involved Bay were released, so it is possible that he could have other projects in store.

Thanks to Jolt and Ninty for the tip!

In most instances, Nintendo sales figures are generally accepted only when Nintendo reports the numbers themselves. VGChartz reports, however, that Wii Fit has sold 650,000 copies in its first day in the market, providing Nintendo with $60 million. Although it allegedly did not perform as well as Mario Kart Wii, Wii Fit had a stellar first day performance nonetheless. Given the popularity of Wii Fit, the 650,000 mark is not out of the question, though it’s best to take this bit of news with a grain of salt until Nintendo confirms this news.

Sting, a company who has developed the Evolution series, may be bringing a new Evolution title to the Nintendo Wii. The only two Evolution games were originally released on the Dreamcast, and were eventually ported to the GameCube. The Evolution titles focused the adventures of Mag Launcher and involves dungeon crawling RPG elements.
