Game Night (9/17)

Posted on 13 years ago by (@NE_Brian) in Site updates | 0 comments

Update: Game Night is now over!

On Sunday, I was fairly certain that we’d able to do a Game Night today, even though Austin probably wouldn’t be around. Unfortunately… I completely blanked out on something that I have to tend to tonight. I’m still not sure if Austin will be able to attend, so that leaves us with a bit of a problem. Now, I believe I will be able to host Game Night somewhat. The thing is, it’ll have to be cut short. We’ll start at 7:00 PM EDT, and if Austin isn’t here, I’ll have to end things at around 7:45 – although, you guys can continue to play if you want! I’ll post the IRC page at about 6:50, and we’ll start at 7:00 (perhaps slightly earlier if there are a lot of people around). So get your Wii systems and Mario Kart Wii ready!

Also, I want to take a moment to say that I’m still waiting on a couple of people to send me their addresses for the Grease: The Game contest. Please send them our way to we can ship the games to all winners as soon as possible!

To be honest, I was a bit letdown by the participation for our Grease: The Game contest. Even though it’s not exactly the sort of title that everyone would enjoy, I figured an easy contest like the one we set up would bring in a lot of entries! But even with the small number of comments, in the end, we did come down to four winners. And they are…

357 Lobster – Can choose Wii or DS version
Captain N – Can choose Wii or DS version
bob
Allen P. Williams

Please send us your shipping information as soon as possible via the contact form! In the event that we don’t receive a response in a short amount of time, we will choose a different winner(s).

Now, moving on to another site topic, I want to let everyone know that there will be a Game Night this week. Austin’s Wii has been acting up the past couple of weeks, which is why the event has been missing in action lately. I’m still not sure if his system will be up and running by Friday, but I’ll take over the hosting duties if Austin can’t make it! Either way, make sure you’re on the site at 8 EDT!

At the moment, two site visitors have won a copy of Grease: The Game. And last Sunday, I said that the second part of the contest would be ending last night. But to make things easier though and speed up everything, I’m going to change things up just a bit. We’re now extending the second part of the contest to Wednesday, and eliminating the third part. Basically, the only thing you need to do still is post a comment on this page. We’ll then randomly choose four winners – two of whom will be able to choose either the Wii or DS versions. If you need me to clarify anything, feel free to shoot me an email or post a comment!

One chance to win Grease: The Video Game has passed, but did you know that you can still win a copy of the game? At the moment, we’re looking for ideas to be used for the third part of the contest. And the good news is that not much involvement is needed on your part. Simply post a comment on this post, and suggest something! We’ll choose the two best ideas, and the winners will receive either a Wii or DS version of the game. You can read more about the contest here.

Tonight’s game night, if I do say so myself, was one of the best ones we’ve ever had! There were a few new faces, as well as all the returning folks that show up every week, and the mix we had was really a great one! First and foremost, I want to thank everyone that showed up for the awesome time we had, and I really hope all the newcomers come back next week. Secondly, of course, we have to announce some winners (as we did have prizes this week!), so without further ado, here are our two winners:

In first place, we have our resident Mario Kart champ, Ronin180. Ronin has been with us for Game Night literally every night since the beginning, from the days when it was just me, him, and Valay to the more recent days where we have a good group. He swept the board today with a whopping 167 total points in our 12 recorded matches!

Second place, we have a newcomer to game nights, Yohonson, who came in second with 65 points. Yohonson joined us tonight and hopped in for the matches we played, and expressed his enjoyment. He should be back many weeks into the future, and we really look forward to seeing him around more!

If the two winners could contact us by e-mailing us via the contact form, we can work out receiving your prizes! Remember that to be eligible for the prizes, you must live within the North American region (United States as well, I think!) in the case that we cannot get the prizes out to you, we will do our best to both make it up to you and to distribute the un-usable prizes as fairly as possible.

Thanks again, guys! We really look forward to seeing you again next week!

Update: And now we have this message in video form, thanks to Austin!

Contrary to what I said last night, Game Night will actually be taking place tomorrow. I spoke with Austin a short while ago, and he mentioned that he has a number of things to tend to. Unfortunately, this means that he won’t be around the site tonight.

With that said, we are planning on doing Game Night this week! The only thing that’s been changed is that we’re bumping the event to tomorrow. We’ll still be playing Mario Kart Wii, and we’ll still be giving away two copies of Grease: The Game, so get a few practice races in before tomorrow night!

Hey guys – Just wanted to remind you all that Game Night will take place tomorrow night. If all goes well, we should open the IRC sometime around 7 PM EDT. Remember, we’ll also be giving away a copy of Grease: The Game to the top two winners. Last week was very enjoyable, so I hope tomorrow will be equally as fun. I hope to see most of you guys there!

Ah, Grease… One of the classic movies from the the 70’s. I know I’ve seen the film a few dozen times. There have even been a few sequels/spinoffs created over the years, though they didn’t quite manage to match the same quality as the original. Nevertheless, Grease is a significant movie franchise. That’s probably one of the reasons why 505 Games has decided to publish a pair of video games based on the film, which will be out on store shelves next week. In honor of the titles’ release, we’re giving away six copies of the game – 3 Wii versions and 3 DS versions. You’ll have not one… Not two… But three opportunities to win. Check out the details below!

The contest

1) Game Night – As many of you know, we typically host an event call “Game Night” once a week. For those who don’t know, it involves site visitors and staff playing different kinds of Wii games online. This past Friday we played The Conduit, and I must say it was very enjoyable. Next week, we’re planning on putting Mario Kart Wii in the spotlight. The player who comes in first once all races are finished will be able to choose between the Wii and DS games while the second place winner will receive the version that isn”t selected.

2) Contest idea: You decide! – We’re putting a unique twist on this part of the contest. Basically, all you have to do is make a comment on this post, suggesting an idea we can use for the final challenge. Once again, there will be two winners. The participant who places first will see their idea realized on the site and can choose between the Wii and DS versions of the game. This contest round will end two weeks from today, and we’ll select the winners shortly thereafter. After that, we’ll share details about the final part of the contest.

Rules

1) One entry per person.
2) Winners accepted from the U.S. and Canada only (players can still participate in Game Night).
3) Attempting to gain an unfair advantage will result in immediate disqualification.
4) In the event that a participant(s) win(s) more than one contest, the runner-up(s) will receive the prize.
5) Rules will be modified/added as needed.

Hey guys – I’ll make this post short and sweet. Unfortunately, I’ll have very limited access to a computer for most of tomorrow. So, Austin will be stepping in to cover this site as well as Gaming Everything. Similar to how we handled things in July, I’ll set up a few posts before I leave in the morning. We didn’t have any issues then, so hopefully all will go well tomorrow as well. I may be able to publish a few additional posts throughout the day, but I’ll have to see how that goes. Other than that, I’ll see you guys tomorrow night!

Austin edit: The perfect day for me to destroy the site! Muahaha!
