Two Sonic Lost World demos are now available in Japan – one for Wii U and another for 3DS.

On Wii U, players can go through Windy Hill Zone 1. The 3DS demo contains the Window Hill Tutorial and Window Hill Zone 1 levels.

It’s possible to bring some data over to the final version, such as scores.

Hopefully we’ll be seeing the same demos in North America and Europe in the near future.

Wii U consoles in Japan have been upgraded to firmware version 4.0.1J. It’s nothing too big – just an update that improves system stability.

As far as I’m aware, 4.0.1 has not been made available in North America or Europe.

Nintendo recently held a press event to show off the latest from Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. You can find details from Polygon’s report below – most of which pertain to multiplayer.

– When playing in multiplayer, Donkey Kong will be automatically granted to a buddy of the player’s choice
– This is instead of requiring them to find one in the level
– Control individual characters on-screen at the same time
– If one player dies, the other player can continue on
– Players have a set number of lives they can use
– Rescue downed players by breaking them out of a barrel
– Dixie moves more gracefully than Donkey/Diddy
– Dixie can move pirouettes across the stage or using her ponytail to helicopter over enemies
– Shake the Wiimote to have Dixie use her hair to slap the ground and shake things up
– This is unlike Donkey Kong, who pummels with his fists
– While on Donkey Kong’s back, Dixie can fire attacks at enemies with bubblegum gun
– Similar to Diddy Kong’s peanut popguns
– When Donkey Kong tumbles over the edge, Dixie will go down with him
– This takes two lives instead of one
– Some stages have players needing to be mindful of their surroundings and help your partner clear a path
– One level with fiery hazards has you pulling eggplant-like fruits filled with water and hurling them onto blazing bushes and enemies
– Minecart levels coming back
– In multiplayer while playing minecart levels, Dixie can ride on Donkey Kong’s back and assume a passive role, or jump in alongside him and duck to avoid damage
– Boss battle: fight against a Viking hat adorned seal that slides from one side of the stage to the other
– Time your attacks and work with your friend to more easily defeat the boss by landing jumps on his back
