Wii U

Following Ubisoft’s Rayman Legends delay, members of the development team – including Rayman creator Michel Ancel – were seen holding signs and supposedly protesting the announcement.

As it turns out, this wasn’t what happened. There was no protest.

Rayman Legends lead game designer Emile Morel explained to EDGE how the whole situation turned into a misunderstanding:

“As for the protest about the delay, it actually never happened, it’s a funny story and in the end a big misunderstanding. A few days after the announcement of the delay, one morning two Rayman fans came by the studio with a funny banner to protest about the delay in a nice and humoristic way. We’re not used to have fans coming by the studio, so some members of the team took pictures with them to be nice and friendly. We spent some time talking with them and once they left I remember someone in the team asking: ‘Did we tell them not to put these pictures online?’ The answer was ‘no’ and two hours later these pictures were everywhere and people started to think that the whole team was protesting about the delay. In the end, no harm was done, and this gives us a funny story to tell!”

Shigeru Miyamoto tackled a trio of Pikmin topics in a new interview with Eurogamer. The first? Losing Pikmin when night falls:

“I would love to [save them], but it’s not possible with my skill. So I have given up. But there are some staff who actually accomplished [this]. Personally, I like challenging myself to beat my own score in the mission mode.”

Miyamoto has also once again commented on downloadable content for Pikmin 3. He moved away from recent comments in which he gave strong hints regarding new DLC, but did say that strong player feedback can lead to production of new elements such as additional missions:

“Nothing has been decided yet, but Pikmin 3 puts importance on the player replaying and re-challenging himself, an element that makes the game more and more fun as users play it many times. If we hear players’ desire to play more with add-on content, we would love to consider the possibilities.”

Last but not least, Miyamoto said the following about his involvement with Pikmin 3’s development:

“In this series, I am especially involved in deciding on the basic concept. Another role would be designing the characters, particularly making them appealing and their overall appearance.”

Platinum Games has updated its Wonderful 101 blog with a third post. Today’s post is fully dedicated to the game’s battle system.

You can find the post here, and some screenshots above.

Among the characters included in Batman: Arkham Origns is Anarky. While he isn’t lumped into the assassin’s group, he’s still very much an adversary of Anarky. Plus, he still maintains his anti-government views.

Creative director Eric Holmes said the following during a recent episode of PlayStation Blogcast:

“Ultimately, [Anarky] is an anti-corporate, anti-government… technically an anti-villain as well. He’s a guy who kind of does bad things but believes he’s doing the right thing.”

“He doesn’t like big corporations trying to control our lives or the government trying to tell us what to do. And he believes those institutions should get kicked out, and wants to take them down.”

“He’s planted a bunch of bombs in these institutions in Gotham, and Batman’s gotta go there and he defuses those bombs. And further on, in the Most Wanted campaign for him, Batman can hunt him down to where he’s headquartered and take him on.”

Holmes has some advice for those who aren’t too familiar with Anarky: don’t look into him too much. This way, some of Origins’ surprise can be kept when players experience the game.
