Wii U

Wii U’s Deluxe Set doesn’t come with a Club Nintendo insert for Nintendo Land. Generally, without some sort of code on the pamphlet, it’s impossible to register a game on the service. That led many to believe those who purchase the Deluxe Set wouldn’t be able to earn coins for Nintendo Land.

There’s no need to fret, fortunately – you will in fact receive some points for Nintendo Land. After registering the Deluxe Set and completing a survey, you should see the following message:

Thank you for purchasing and registering the Wii U Deluxe System.
You will receive 160 Coins for completing this short survey.

Comeback in 1 week and share with us your feedback on Nintendo Land. For a limited time only, we are offering a special 50 Coin bonus post-play survey in exchange for Wii U Deluxe Set owners’ feedback on Nintendo Land.

It’s true that this is less than the full amount you would receive normally – 70 coins through December 18 and 60 otherwise – but it’s better than initially thought.

Some folks out there may be doubting that the Wii U will be successful. 2K Games president Christoph Hartmann isn’t included in that group, though.

Hartmann told MCV that the doubters out there feel this way “because they don’t really understand it.” He feels the Wii U “offers something special and we will be surprised how consumers will get attached.”

“Nintendo always impresses and surprises me. The team there has so much knowledge built up over many, many years. Nintendo always finds its crowd. There have been people doubting the Wii U because they don’t really understand it. I wasn’t sure about the Wii and I was proved wrong, proved wrong by my own people, which I like the most because we sold a lot of Carnival Games. I believe the Wii U offers something special and we will be surprised how consumers will get attached. There’s nothing in my body, not a single piece, doubting that the Wii U will be successful.”

When you boot up Wii U, you can see a series of icons representing games and users’ Miis milling about around each title. Some Miis’ messages will also be highlighted for the world to see. Now, you might be wondering, how is the content selected?

According to Nintendo, the most discussed topics in Miiverse are selected. But it’s not an automatic process – each selection is screened and filtered before being approved.

“The most discussed topics in Miiverse – e.g. specific games, applications, boss battles, user accomplishments, etc. – will be displayed on Wii U’s main menu. Before that content is posted to the main menu it will be screened and filtered to ensure that it is appropriate for everyone.”

Here’s a random but interesting fact about ZombiU: only 15 players have completed the game in normal mode… so says Ubisoft producer Guillaume Brunier.

Normal mode was completed the quickest in 8 hours. The most amount of time taken is 15 hours.

“Only 15 people finished #ZombiU in normal mode to date. The fastest in 8hrs, the slowest in 15hrs.”

Some Wii U users have been experiencing issues logging into the Netflix app. Why, you ask? Because it actually lacked an “@” symbol. So those with “@” in their passwords couldn’t log in – unless they changed their passwords.

The problem has now been fixed. Netflix confirmed on Twitter that the app now supports the “@” symbol.

Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime has offered some new insight into the Wii U in an interview with Mercury News. Read on below for Reggie’s comments regarding how Wii U becomes profitable, why the company didn’t release Wii U sooner, and more.

Some Call of Duty: Black Ops II players have been experiencing freezing issues on Wii U. Activision advises users to install all patches and title updates to fix any problems. The updates, which don’t impact saves, improve security and fixes exploits and crashes.

There’s no question that the Wii U’s day-one update is big. Just not 5GB big, as initially thought.

The full download is closer to 1GB. As you can see in the image above, only .47GB of content was exchanged after progressing halfway (roughly) through the process.

There are reports floating around that you can download the day-one firmware in the background, much like other updates. That surely makes things easier. You just need to cancel the update when initially prompted following Wii U’s initial Internet connection setup.
