TITLE: Mushroom Men – The Spore Wars
PLATFORM: Wii
DEVELOPER: Red Fly Studio
GENRE: Action Adventure
RELEASE DATE: October 2008An ichorous green meteor plummets through the Earth’s atmosphere, fracturing and showering the earth with glowing green space dust that affects all forms of life nearby. Some plant life – mushrooms and cacti – acquire sentience while, the meteor twists and mutates other life forms, transforming insects and animals into semi-intelligent, warlike communities.
The story of Mushroom Men is told in Acts, each Act occurring in a completely unique environment. Each version of the game (DS and Wii) tells different portions of the history of the Mushroom Men universe. The DS and Wii versions are completely different stories from one-another. The DS version, Mushroom Men – Rise of the Fungi, is the first release and shows the development of the Mushroom Nations, starting very early in Mushroom Men history. The early days of the Mushroom Men were simpler times as the Mushroom Men were just learning to walk, communicate and interact with their world. As the Mushroom Men learn how their world works, they take the player with them, developing their skills, abilities and histories up to the start of the Spore Wars.
The Wii title, Mushroom Men – The Spore Wars, picks up during the escalating war between the mushroom factions. The world is more hostile and combat is more complex. New tools and weapons are developed to assist in the escalating battles. The player takes on the role of a misfit and unexpected hero destined to bring about the conclusion of the Spore Wars while solving his own personal quests. The game presents the story simply, providing a strong sense of continuity to the single-player game without intruding on the gameplay.

No doubt about it: Eternity’s Child will release in North America

Luc had the original EC PC version commissioned by a coder external to Alten8. Alten8 is now porting to Wii the PC version code as supplied recently to us. We could not do this till the PC version was nearer completion. This game will be ported by Alten8’s in-house coders based in the Luton UK office, then rated for the various regions and put through the Nintendo system before going out on WiiWare, as always intended by us.
It will subject to actual rating and go out as closely as possible in Europe and NA regions. We aim to ultimately have it out in all regions, but realistically those two will be first.
We do not want to give specific time scales on its release other than to say now it is being ported from the supplied code. We are as a company working as fast as we can to do this porting and get it through the Nintendo system once done.
The versions Luc puts out himself on PC should not be confused with the Wii versions we will put out, and may differ in terms of final levels and game play. We aim again to bring the best game we can to Wii players and enhance it and make use of the Wii’s unique features.
High Voltage already considering a Conduit sequel

“We think we have a pretty robust story and we’re trying to do some things that tell it very stylistically. We want to start posing a lot of questions especially here in the first product we’ll be dropping a lot of breadcrumbs to see if people pick them up. We would like to see a sequel. We’ve got enough story in this and enough ideas that we can take this for a long time to come. But of course the market is going to determine sequels.” – Rob Nicholls, lead game designer of The Conduit
Of course, The Conduit is very far from release at this point, but many people have high expectations for High Voltage Software’s Wii effort. We still don’t know when the development team will announce its publisher, although hopefully, that news will come in the near future.

Rock Band 2 announced, heading to Wii later this year

“Microsoft has been a great partner throughout the launch of Rock Band in the last year and their continued support is instrumental in supporting the more advanced features and cross title compatibility we will have in Rock Band 2. Of course, our goal is to make Rock Band 2 accessible to all and we look forward to bringing Rock Band 2 to all relevant platforms later this year.” – Harmonix representative
Rock Band 2 is supposed to be releasing for the Xbox 360 this September with the Wii/other versions hitting later this year. Still, the release of the original Rock Band for Wii seems a bit superfluous, since most can wait out the extra few months for an improved experience.
Mega Man 9 could land on XBLA, PSN – UPDATE
Posted on 16 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii | 2 Comments
Update: Capcom has responded and has said that currently, Mega Man 9 will be releasing for WiiWare only.
Nintendo Power gave us the scoop on Mega Man 9 for the Wii, but there was never an official confirmation that the game would be a WiiWare exclusive. According to one particular article, there is the notion going around that Mega Man 9 is on a Capcom E3 list as a XBLA and PSN release, based on an E3 list. However, we’re still fairly far from an official confirmation by Capcom and it wouldn’t be the end of the world if Mega Man 9 headed to other platforms as well…Or would it?
