People in Japan are excited for the Wii U, but they’re also a tad worried that Nintendo will goof up the launch like they did with the 3DS. Here’s the rundown, as well as some quotes from Famitsu readers who were surveyed:

– 45% of respondents said they will buy the system on launch day.

– 37% said they’ll buy it eventually.

– 72% of those who will buy it are planning on getting the deluxe set instead of the basic, 8GB model.

– Most people cited the launch lineup (NSMBU, Monster Hunter Ultimate) as the main reason for purchase.

– “Now that I know I can play Monster Hunter online on it, I definitely want to buy it sometime soon.”

– “I want to see Mario and Dragon Quest X in HD as soon as I can, so I have a preorder in for launch day.”

– “I prefer the white color, but there’s a huge difference betwen 8GB and 32GB of internal memory. I’m sure I’m going to have free-space problems down the line if I get the Basic Set, so I’ll be getting the Premium version.”

– “Between the launch lineup and what Iwata has been saying, I feel like Nintendo is devoting a lot of attention to core gamers this time around. I hope they fully act on that, since that group got kind of left behind with the Wii.”
