Nintendo director salaries for Shuntaro Furukawa, Miyamoto, and more shared in 2023 annual report

Nintendo’s latest annual report for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2023, which was just issued today, outlines the salaries of the company’s top directors including president Shuntaro Furukawa and Shigeru Miyamoto.
As the head of Nintendo, Furukawa earns the most with a salary of $2.51 million. Miyamoto follows in second with $2.02 million. The rest of the list rounds out with Shinya Takahashi (one of the hosts in the last Nintendo Direct) at $1.61 million, Satoru Shibata at $1.91 million, and Ko Shiota at $910,000. Note that these figures were converted from yen.
You might be curious as to how Furukawa’s salary stacks up to other gaming executives. Yosuke Matsuda, the head of Square Enix, brought in a little over $4 million in 2020. Former SEGA boss Hajime Satomi had a salary of roughly $3 million.
The comparison is more extreme if we’re looking at western gaming companies. Based on a report from market intelligence firm Games One, Activision Blizzard boss Bobby Koltick had a salary of $154 million. While not as high, EA’s Andrew Wilson received a significant amount at $34.7 million. Both of these numbers are extraordinarily high compared to Nintendo.
