Over the past couple of days, much has been made out of the registration of two domain names: xenobladechronicles.com and thelaststory.com. Personally, I’ve found all of the buzz to be baffling. So I’m stepping in to calm things down a bit!
First, by no means does a domain registration indicate that we’ll be seeing a title in North America. That’s why all I can do is scratch my head when I see headlines such as “Nintendo confirms The Last Story for the US”. Honestly, I think people need to stop putting a great deal of emphasis on these findings. You may also notice that thelaststory.com was registered back in 2010. Just because someone found out about it this week doesn’t mean we’ll be seeing a confirmation tomorrow (I admit that would be very funny if that happened, though.)
Believe me, I want to see Xenoblade (Chronicles) and The Last Story in North America and Europe as much as you guys. Xenoblade in particular really captured my interest once the “field exploration” trailer was released. But until you read anything that is put out by Nintendo specifically, don’t rely on domain registrations as an indicator that a game is coming stateside.
