Charles Martinet, the voice of Mario, poses with the Mario character at an exclusive launch event celebrating the upcoming launch of the Super Mario Galaxy 2 game at the Nintendo World store in New York on May 21, 2010. Super Mario Galaxy 2 launched May 23, 2010.
Teddy B., 9 years old, of Nyack, N.Y., is among the first to play Super Mario Galaxy 2 prior to the game’s May 23, 2010 release. Club Nintendo Platinum members were invited to an exclusive launch event for the game at the Nintendo World store in New York on May 21, 2010.
This week the Nintendo DSiWare™ service asks players to try their hands at a number of divergent occupations. You might pilot a ship in Metal Torrent™ or try a bluff at the poker table in World Poker Tour Texas Hold ‘Em. Once you master those, you can try your hand at solving transportation problems through deductive reasoning or go on a hunt for the notorious Jack the Ripper. Over on the WiiWare™ service, things get a little more “natural.” You might play as a monkey or as a unit of DNA. You can even become a trippy beam of light in ArtStyle™: light trax™, the latest title in the critically-acclaimed Art Style series. Don’t forget to download the hilarious new Photo Dojo™ game, available for zero Nintendo DSi Points through June 10 (the game will require 200 Nintendo DSi Points for download as of June 11).
This week also brings new additions to the “Big Name Games” section of the WarioWare™: D.I.Y. series, which features downloadable microgames from some of the industry’s most talented figures. This week’s featured game, Funky Boxing, was created by Chris Slate, editor in chief of Nintendo Power™ magazine. Funky Boxing is an homage to Punch-Out!! ™ and asks players to score three hits on the Champ. New “Big Name Games” will be added every Monday through July 26, all available to download for zero Nintendo DSi Points™ to anyone with broadband Internet access and a copy of either WarioWare: D.I.Y. for the Nintendo DS™ family of systems or WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase software for the WiiWare service. Visit the Nintendo Channel on your Wii™ system today to learn more about these games.

“Everything you can do online, you can do via splitscreen to include all competitive modes and the cooperative Team Invasion mode. We’ve spent a lot of time on a sweet splitscreen exclusive as well, namely the ability to lean over and punch your buddy in the arm if he looks at your screen. It’s something that you just can’t offer online, and one of the things that I really miss in multiplayer gaming. Online is a great experience to be sure, but there’s something special about having four buddies on the same couch playing in the same room. I have such fond memories of countless hours spent doing exactly that and I’m glad that we’re supporting it in Conduit 2. It [splitscreen] supports 4 players. And 2. And let’s not forget 3. For two players, you can set your screen to draw horizontally or vertically.” – Josh Olson, Senior Producer of Conduit 2
The original Conduit lacked local multiplayer completely, so it’s nice to see that the developers are concentrating on including a fully-functional experience this time around. Also, that exclusive splitscreen feature sounds really neat!
Suda51 on making another No More Heroes game with Travis or perhaps another character…
“Unfortunately, the story for Travis alone is completed in No More Heroes 2. I am very curious about his life after this; however, we have no plan for No More Heroes 3.”
Suda51 on why MotionPlus was dropped from No More Heroes 2…
“I chose the same controller system as NMH1, yet at the same time we wanted the system to be more evolved for NMH2, but not radically different.”
Suda51 on whether he’d like to make a MotionPlus game…
“If there is a chance in the future, I would like to try.”
