Nintendo published a new interview in its series of discussions pertaining to the NES Classic Edition. This time, the topic was the very first Zelda. Co-directors Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka plus series composer Koji Kondo all participated.
Like the previous interviews, there’s a whole lot of interesting talk here. Miyamoto talked about his inspiration with the series, Kondo spoke about how he created music just before release by pulling an all-nighter, and we learn about the Molblin’s famous message (“It’s a secret to everybody”) as well as how Nintendo originally intended to name the series “Hyrule Fantasy”.
For the full interview, head past the break.
Capcom shared another Megami Meguri trailer that once again takes viewers on a tour across Japan and introduces various items. Watch it below.
Over in Miitomo, players can once again nab the collaboration items for Metroid. Nintendo previously made the Zelda content available for a second time last week.
Metroid items are located in Miitomo Drop and the Miitomo Shop. Additionally, the My Nintendo rewards are back up. The Metroid items will disappear again on December 7.
The European boxart is now in for Dragon Quest VIII, featuring the same design as the one featured in North America. Check it out above.
Nintendo is celebrating Thanksgiving with a new National StreetPass Weekend in North America. Between November 24 and November 28, stop by any of the 29,000+ Nintendo Zone locations to connect with others and partake in 3DS StreetPass connectivity. Some of the latest games to support connectivity include Pokemon Sun/Moon, Disney Magical World 2, and Yo-kai Watch 2.
In some ways, Metroid and Castlevania are intertwined. The two franchises have drawn a few comparisons due to their nature of gameplay. In fact, that’s mainly why we have the “Metroidvania” type of gaming genre.
Koji Igarashi, who is currently working on Bloodstained, actually told Glixel that he’d be “incredibly honored” to make a Metroid game if the fans asked and Nintendo approached him.
Additionally, when specifically asked why Nintendo never teamed up with him and Konami to develop a new 2D Metroid back in the way, Igarashi responded:
“Nintendo is very careful about protecting their IPs and making any changes to their games. Around the time that I was proving that I could do multiple titles and do them well, Nintendo had shifted to Metroid Prime and they were having success turning their 2D games into 3D. So they probably decided from that point on that Metroid was going to be a 3D game series, and by that rationale, my style of games didn’t really fit their criteria. That would be my guess.”
Update: Both are now sold out. Hope some of you got orders in!
Original: Amazon is now taking pre-orders for the New 3DS systems set to launch in North America as part of Black Friday. Reserve the black one here and the white one here. We’ll let you know about early availability at other retailers if anything pops up.
Two more partners are on board for the development of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
First, DICO is assisting the team. Creator Koji Igarashi worked with this company in the past, and “will be on the frontline for this stage of the main development.”
Monobit is also involved for “support on all technical aspects of the project.” They’re comprised of “a group of exceptional programmers who have experience working on game engines.”
Here’s a video introducing the two companies:
Igarashi mentioned in today’s Kickstarter post that updates will be slowing down somewhat due to a reorganization of the development structure. However, he feels everyone will collectively “deliver the quality output that the team and the backers are both anticipating.”
