PlatinumGames on lack of Bayonetta 3 news at E3; development going well, will be “a high quality title”
One of the games we could have possibly seen during this week’s Nintendo Direct was Bayonetta 3. In the end though, the title didn’t appear. We also haven’t heard anything about it since the original announcement at The Game Awards 2017.
Despite the silence, PlatinumGames studio head Atsushi Inaba told VGC that “development is actually going quite well.” When asked if Bayonetta 3’s absence at E3 2019, Inaba said:
“No, development is actually going quite well. Games aren’t usually done in a year or two… it takes a while. That’s all. Things are going well and I know a lot of people are asking for it. Giving updates for everything at E3 isn’t the smartest PR strategy to begin with. So just because we’re not showing it here doesn’t mean it’s not going well.”
Inaba also noted the following when asked if the lengthy silence is related to the Platinum’s big ambitions for the game:
“Yes, it’s going to be a high quality title and we’re putting our all into it. That is what you’re seeing [with the silence].”
