Bayonetta 3 voice acting statement PlatinumGames

PlatinumGames has shared an official statement about the recent voice acting controversy with Bayonetta 3.

The situation has been developing over the last week, but things began after Hellena Taylor – the original voice of Bayonetta – posted a series of videos explaining why she isn’t returning for the third entry. She claimed that she was initially given “an insulting offer” to reprise the role, and this was only bumped up to $4,000 after reaching out to PlatinumGames.

Meanwhile, Bloomberg reported this week that Taylor was actually offered between $3,000 and $4,000 for at least five sessions. The outlet says Taylor asked for a six-figure fee and residuals, which eventually led Platinum to pursue a new voice actress. While Bloomberg claims Taylor was later offered a cameo and would have been paid for a single session, nothing came from that.

Jennifer Hale, the new voice of Bayonetta, issued her own statement as well. After acknowledging “every actor’s right to be paid well”, she asked for people to “resolve their differences in an amicable and respectful way.”

As for PlatinumGames’ statement today, here’s that in full:

We at PlatinumGames offer our sincerest appreciation to everyone who has contributed to creating the Bayonetta series over the years, as well as the community that has served as its foundation.

We give our full support to Jennifer Hale as the new Bayonetta, and align with everything in her statement.

We ask people to please refrain from any further comments that would disrespect Jennifer or any of the other contributors of the series.
