How to find every Paradox Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet

Paradox Pokemon are one of Scarlet and Violet’s coolest new features. And as is the case with most cool Pokemon, they’re only available at the very end of the game in a place called Area Zero. If you’re looking to catch a few Paradox Pokemon to fill up your Pokedex, we’ve listed all their locations down below. Note that past Paradox Pokemon are exclusive to Pokemon Scarlet, while future Paradox forms are exclusive to Pokemon Violet.
Paradox Pokemon locations
Great Tusk
Great Tusk, the past paradox form of Donphan, resides outside of Research Station 4. You might want to make a Ground- or Fighting-type sandwich to increase its spawn rate. As a reminder, all of the past paradox forms are exclusive to Pokemon Scarlet.
Scream Tail
This Paradox Pokemon appears around Research Station 4. It actually appears in just about every part of Area Zero, but it’s easiest to find if you teleport to Research Station 4 and start your search from there.
Brute Bonnet
Brute Bonnet, the paradox form of Amoonguss, is located right outside Research Station 2. It’s a rather common spawn around this area, so you shouldn’t have much of a problem finding it.
Flutter Mane
You can find Flutter Mane at the very bottom of Area Zero’s crater. Fun fact: you can guarantee a Shiny here. Make a Ghost-type sandwich via our guide. Head to the bottom of Area Zero at night and you won’t find a single Pokemon. In reality, something strange is going on: Flutter Manes are spawning and despawning in a fraction of a second. When a Shiny one finally appears, it will not despawn – it’ll actually be the only Pokemon on-screen. This makes Flutter Mane one of the easiest Shiny hunts in the game.
Slither Wing
Slither Wing, the past form of Volcarona, appears on the downward slope near Research Station 1. You might need to make a Fighting-type sandwich to increase the spawn rate, because it’s a little bit low.
Sandy Shocks
This Paradox Pokemon only appears in rocky areas. There’s one such area right across from Research Station 2. You can make an Electric- or Ground-type sandwich to boost its spawn rate if you like.
Roaring Moon
Roaring Moon, a past paradox form of Salamence, is located in a hidden cave. Teleport to Research Station 2, head right, and then head down the slope and across the river. Run up to the lone tree and check behind the rocks to find the hidden cave. Roaring Moon flies in this area, so you’ll need to press the ZR button to throw your Poke Ball at it and engage in battle.
Koraidon
Koraidon is actually a Paradox Pokemon – it’s also known as the Winged King. You’ll obtain your drive mode Koraidon early in the game, but you’ll be able to catch another one in Area Zero after you’ve cleared all its story events. This second Koraidon is difficult to catch, so make sure you come prepared. It should go without saying that you can only catch Koraidon in Pokemon Scarlet.
Walking Wake
At the time of writing, Walking Wake was only available via a limited-time Tera Raid Battle event alongside Iron Leaves. While it isn’t obtainable at the moment, leaked material indicates that Walking Wake is a part of The Indigo Disk’s Pokedex. Wait just a little while longer and you’ll no doubt be able to catch it again soon.
Iron Treads
Iron Treads is most common right outside of Research Station 4. As a reminder, all of the future-form Paradox Pokemon are only available in Pokemon Violet. If you’re playing Scarlet, you’ll have to trade or use the Union Circle feature to catch one of your own.
Iron Bundle
This Paradox Pokemon is easy to find. Teleport to Research Station 1 and head to the downward slope nearby. Iron Bundle is very small, but it’s also extremely powerful – make sure you come prepared. A Pokemon with Water Absorb would come in handy here.
Iron Hands
To find Iron Hands, simply drop down to the very bottom of the crater in Area Zero. You should find a whole bunch on this floor. You can use an Electric-type sandwich to increase its spawn rate if you like.
Iron Jugulis
This Paradox Pokemon appears outside of Research Station 4 in Pokemon Violet. Iron Jugulis has access to powerful Dark- and Flying-type moves, so make sure you’re prepared to take a few hits as you aim to capture it.
Iron Moth
Iron Moth appears alongside Iron Bundle on the downward slope near Research Station 1. If you don’t want Iron Bundle, you can make a Fire- or Poison-type sandwich to clear them out and increase Iron Moth’s spawn rate instead.
Iron Thorns
Iron Thorns only spawns in rocky areas. There’s one near Research Station 2 – it’s straight ahead after you exit the building. You may have to make an Electric-type sandwich to clear out all the Lycanroc spawns here.
Iron Valiant
Iron Valiant, a future fusion between Gallade and Gardevoir, is located in a secret cave. Teleport to Research Station 2, turn right, and head down the slope and across the river. From there, run up to the lone tree and check behind the rocks to enter the hidden cave. You might need to make a Fighting- or Fairy-type sandwich to increase its spawn rate.
Miraidon
Miraidon is a future paradox form of Cyclizar – also known as the Iron Serpent. While you can’t trade your Miraidon, you’ll be able to catch a second one later down the line after you clear all the game’s story events. It’s located in Area Zero, and it’s quite tough to capture.
Iron Leaves
At the time of writing, Iron Leaves was only available from a limited-time Tera Raid Battle event alongside Walking Wake. That being said, leaked materials indicate that Iron Leaves is a part of The Indigo Disk’s regional Pokedex. That means you’ll be able to catch it again, so don’t worry if you missed out.
How to Shiny Hunt Paradox Pokemon
If you’d like to Shiny hunt a Paradox Pokemon, you’ll need to make the appropriate sandwich via our guide before you enter Area Zero. From there, you’ll need to check your surroundings to see if any of the Pokemon are Shiny. If they aren’t, slowly walk away until the Pokemon exit your field of view and despawn. Be very careful, because it’s possible for a Shiny Pokemon to spawn on the edge of the camera and then immediately despawn as you walk away. Take it slow and you’ll eventually find what you’re looking for. Just make sure you’ve got plenty of Poke Balls, because a few of these Paradox Pokemon are difficult to catch. Please note that you currently cannot obtain Koraidon, Miraidon, Walking Wake, or Iron Leaves in their Shiny forms.
