Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime appeared at Variety’s Entertainment and Technology Summit in Los Angeles today. Reggie commented on a few topics, such as Switch supply, potential TV / movie partnerships, VR / AR.

First, on the topic of getting enough Switch units out there for the holidays, Reggie noted:

“Certainly the demand is there, and our supply chain is there (to hit the 10 million goal). Are we going to have enough for the holiday? That’s what we are focused on.”

Reggie later mentioned that Nintendo is involved with more than just gaming. “People think of us as a pure gaming company. We see ourselves as an entertainment company,” he said.

Reggie also weighed in on potentially partnering with companies for movies or TV shows. “All of those options are potentially on the table,” he said. But with that in mind, he also references the 1993 Super Mario Bros. film which “may have the lowest Rotten Tomato score out there.”

Finally, Reggie spoke about VR and AR. Regarding virtual reality, the Nintendo of America boss said the company has been looking at the tech “literally tens of years.” But Reggie feels VR lacks experiences “that are truly fun.” Reggie has more faith in AR, stating: “The potential for AR is here and now.”
