Rodea: The Sky Soldier – a little more on its development status with full quotes

Thanks to an interview published by 4Gamer a few days ago, it was revealed that Rodea: The Sky Soldier is still in development. We now have some direct quotes that may make the game’s development status even clearer.

First, 4Gamer shared concern for the game since nothing has been mentioned since its announcement in 2011.

To this, Kadokawa’s Yoshimi Yasuda expressed that everyone in the media has been asking about Rodea, but that he hasn’t heard much himself. But in concern over it being forgotten, he accepts to talk about it for a little bit. Yasuda then expressed that when it was initially announced for both the 3DS and Wii, the project was originally in development just for Wii.

“One of the biggest problems was how deep they were in the Wii version (Developed by Kadokawa games) and then trying to transition everything over to the 3DS. It wasn’t as smooth as they hoped, with things like moving away from the Wii remote controls as being an example. Because of that, they decided to change the direction of the 3DS version of Rodea. Controls are very important in this game, so if you don’t have a clear sense of how to control the game, it just becomes an ’empty flying game’. Even though it’s been a while since there were any leads, it all won’t matter when you’re flying all around, because it’s truly a charm of a game. Mr Hasegawa is the producer on this project and has been working really hard, so until the controls feel just right, we ask that you wait a little longer. Also with the 3DS version, I would say we’re about 70% complete on the surface, and I know it’ll take a lot more effort, but I’m considering an Alpha Plus version.”

When asked what Alpha Plus is, Yasuda responded:

“That’s enough for today, please let that secret be enough. I’m very sorry to those truly hoping and waiting for something because the release of information has been so scarce, but I ask to please wait a little more.”

And finally, 4Gamer says that it would be really nice to know a release date for the Wii and 3DS, wouldn’t it?

“Yes. But until then, please ‘watch over with warm eyes’.”
