The original Octopath Traveler was a milestone game, not only as the first major exclusive JRPG for Nintendo Switch, but also for the genre as a whole. It simultaneously reinvigorated a love in turn-based combat for many lapsed RPG fans, while also creating a visual style that has not only been wildly successful for Square Enix, but for imitators across other major studios and indie publishers. Octopath Traveler 0 demo out on Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch today, story trailer

Octopath Traveler 0 will be on Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch next month, but before that happens, fans can check out a demo for the game. Square Enix says it’s going live today on both platforms.

The demo provides access through the opening of the game, the first chapter of the three different story arcs of the Retribution story and the first chapter of the Restoration story. This ultimately amounts to about three hours of gameplay. Progress carries over to the full game.

Square Enix has provided new technical details about Octopath Traveler 0, and we now have confirmation regarding frame rate and resolution for the Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch versions. This comes from the official Japanese website.

For frame rate, expect things to be at up to 60 FPS on Nintendo Switch 2. The action is up to 30 FPS on the original Nintendo Switch.
