Pokemon Scarlet

Pokemon battle gimmicks ranked

Since the release of Pokemon X and Y in 2013, new games in the series have had a battle “gimmick” of some sort to keep things fresh. It all started with Mega Evolution in X and Y, which was then expanded upon in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Then we got Z-Moves in Pokemon Sun and Moon, followed by Dynamax and Gigantamax in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Then we’ve got Terastallization in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and that’s where we’re at right now. We’re almost certain to see another new gimmick introduced in the tenth generation of Pokemon, which is getting closer and closer by the day given that Scarlet and Violet released three years ago already. So today, we’re taking a look at all of these battle gimmicks and ranking them from best to least best. None of the gimmicks are outright terrible – they’re all inspired and thematically appropriate for their regions, but some are certainly better than others.

Pokemon Scarlet Violet Mystery Gift codes

We’ve started up a new post containing all Mystery Gift codes for Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet. This hub will be updated throughout the lifecycle of the two games with all codes and other distributions as they’re announced.

Codes and distributions can provide all sorts of things. Redeeming them will give you special Pokemon offered in distributions, certain items, and more.

Pokemon Scarlet Violet Whimsicott distribution

In celebration of the Latin America International Championships, a special Whimsicott distribution Mytery Gift distribution has now begun for a limited time.

The Whimsicott here is based on the same one used by previous winner Federico Camporesi. It comes with the moves Moonblast, Tailwind, Light Screen, and Encore. Covert Cloak is its held item, the creature is at level 50, and it comes with the Prankster ability.

Follow these steps to claim today’s distribution:

There’s another Tera Raid Battle event in store for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, which features Goodra.

Goodra, which will have the Water Tera Type, will be showing up in 7 Star Raids. It has the Mightiest Mark and can be caught once per save file.

Pokemon Scarlet Violet Hydreigon Tera Raid

The latest Tera Raid Battle event for Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet has now been revealed.

This time around, Hydreigon will be featured with the Poison Tera Type. It has the Mightiest Mark and can be caught once per save file. Note that it will show up in 7 Star Raids.

A ton of details have been uncovered about the original plans for Pokemon Sword and Shield as well as Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Information was shared as part of the Game Freak “Teraleak”.

For Gen 8, Game Freak was initially pursuing a pre-historic theme. We have details about beta starters, potential names, plot details, and much more.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet went through their own major changes. A lot of information covers the plot, but there are some other differences here as well.

We have another update on the Shiny Koraidon and Shiny Miraidon code distribution for Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet, with GameStop now issuing a statement.

Fans in the United States haven’t been happy with how the distribution has been handled. After the event began at the end of September, codes were quickly taken up – and many by scalpers. As we previously mentioned, the distribution started on the same day as a new set for the Pokemon Trading Card Game.

After the recent fiasco with the Shiny Koraidon and Miraidon distribution for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet at GameStop, codes have been restocked.

The in-store promotion kicked off at stores across the United States about a week ago. Soon after, however, chaos ensued. Codes were quickly gobbled up – many by scalpers – leaving many fans unable to get a code. Plenty of codes quickly flooded eBay for exorbitant prices.

Part of the issue was the day in which the promotion began. The new Pokemon Trading Card Game pack Mega Evolution launched at the same time, so that was not a good recipe for success. Pokemon cards themselves have been tough to come by and have brought out plenty of scalpers on their own. They were looking to take advantage of the Mega Evolution drop, and at the same time, took advantage of the hype for Shiny Shiny Koraidon and Miraidon for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet as well.

Pokemon Scarlet Violet Roaring Moon and Iron Valiant Tera Raid

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet players can look forward to the next Tera Raid Battle event, which features Roaring Moon and Iron Valiant.

Both will be appearing in 7 Star Raids. If you have Pokemon Scarlet, you’ll battle against Roaring Moon with the Dragon Tera Type. For Pokemon Violet, it’s Iron Valiant with the Fairy Tera Type. The creatures have the Mightiest Mark and catch be caught just once per save file.

Shiny Chi-Yu Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

The latest Legendary Shiny distribution has just started in Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet, with Shiny Chi-Yu now available in both games. This can be claimed through Mystery Gift.

Shiny Chi-Yu was previously featured in a Tera Raid Battle event. The creature was defeated one one million times (the final total was 1,891,539), which unlocked today’s distribution.

Here’s how to claim the reward:
