Switch 2 brought with it several launch titles like Mario Kart World and Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour, but one game that also launched with the console that flew under the radar was the Sonic x Shadow Generations. The game released for Nintendo Switch late last year and was generally well-received. As per our original review, however, one of the game’s biggest flaws was its performance. Both Sonic and Shadow Generations targeted 30 frames per second, and while the former often hit that target, the latter struggled to do so and also struggled with extremely poor resolution.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Sonic x Shadow Generations doesn’t include any new content – it’s strictly a performance upgrade for the game. With that in mind, we’re going to focus on the game’s graphics and frame rate for the purposes of this feature. Sonic x Shadow Generations coming to Nintendo Switch 2 [update: release date]

April 2: SEGA is bringing Sonic x Shadow Generations to Nintendo Switch 2, the company has just announced. It will be available during the system’s launch window.

Sonic x Shadow Generations is already on the current Nintendo Switch having launched last year. According to SEGA, more information will be provided later.

Sonic x Shadow Generations DLC releasing on Nintendo Switch next month

A Nintendo Switch eShop listing for DLC for Sonic x Shadow Generations has appeared. The Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie Pack has a scheduled release date of December 12, and will be set in Shibuya. Keanu Reeves, who is set to voice Shadow in the upcoming movie, will feature in the DLC.

Sonic x Shadow Generations story trailer

Sonic x Shadow Generations was featured during today’s Sonic Central presentation with a new trailer highlighting the story. The video also shows more gameplay, and Mephiles is also confirmed to be making an appearance.

In the Shadow Generations campaign, the character will be forced to relive his past. His nemesis, Black Doom, reappears and threatens to take over the world. Shadow will go on a journey through his past while confronting his painful memories and unlocking new powers to save the world.
