It’s always refreshing when developers make an effort to shake up a genre by injecting something new into it. It often yields unexpected surprises, or at the very least a different experience, which is equally as valuable in an overcrowded genre. Moonstone Island is another game that has taken the bold and ambitious move of throwing half a dozen different gameplay mechanics from assorted genres into a blender to see what comes out. The result is nowhere near as messy as that implies, but more care could have been taken with what was included nonetheless.

A whole bunch of gameplay is now in for the just-released Switch version of Moonstone Island. The creature-collecting life-sim has received an hour of footage.

Moonstone Island release date

The wait for the Switch version of Moonstone Island is nearly over and a release date was just shared. Today, Raw Fury and Studio Supersoft revealed that the game arrives on June 19, 2024.

Moonstone Island was revealed for Switch a couple of years ago. The PC version shipped last September, and since then, the game has grown. The team has added 70 new spirits, and players will be able to access a never-ending dungeon with rewards, “Decorator’s Pass” that grants access to all the DLC cosmetics since launch (with more to come), and a new marriage component allowing them to move in with a chosen spouse following a special wedding scene.

Moonstone Island

Studio Supersoft has confirmed that Moonstone Island, its open-world deckbuilder, is on the way to Switch. Right now the project has a tentative 2023 release window.

Moonstone Island begins with players moving to an island to spend a year away from home, which is a tradition in the hero’s village as part of alchemy training. Players will start a new life and build a home for themselves “in a land that has been stifled by dark forces.” They’ll have simple tools, alchemical recipes, and the ability to tame nature spirits at their disposal.
