A new developer has taken the reigns on Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Nintendo is publishing Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, but Ninja Gaiden studio Team Ninja is actually in charge of production. How this came to be was explained in the latest issue of Game Informer.

As it turns out, Marvel was already aware of Team Ninja’s pedigree. Marvel Games VP and executive producer Mike Jones said that folks inside the company are “huge fans of Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo and their esteemed history.” He went on to say:

“We had always been looking for a way to work with them on a project together, and Nintendo already had a fantastic relationship there.”

“They are able to deliver that quick response and high fidelity that people want to feel from our heroes. You want Wolverine to feel different from Hulk, and each of them to feel different from all others.”

Team Ninja director Hiroya Usuda also chimed in on being involved with Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, noting:

“We think that Team Ninja is known for our action games, and we really wanted to expand on that aspect of the game. So we put a lot of focus on the gameplay. We wanted to get good response from the controllers when you’re playing, and also have good tempo to the gameplay.”
