We simply cannot buy switch in Japan now.
But fortunately, I preordered two sets of Nintendo Switch and got them on the launch day。
Bic Camera will get new stocks on Sunday, but you will have to draw lots to get the privilege.

Wii situation all over again (sales and sold out wise, console is solid 🙂 )

  • hi v3.0

Yeah…. Nintendo needs to hurry up and produce for Switches

  • Stuart

Solid for a sold out console. Does anyone knows how much PS4,3DS and Wii U sold second week?

    • Stuart

      Never mind,I found it:

      Wii: 85.439 / 435.797
      3DS: 209.623 / 584.387
      PSV: 72.479 / 397.338
      Wii U: 126.916 / 435.058
      PS4: 65.685 / 374.839
      Switch: 61.998 / 391.150

      Let’s hope for restocks soon.

HA! Looks like the wii u was the the best 2nd week console. Ironic

        • ben

The wii u was released at Christmas time and had a larger supply surplus.

      • StuOhQ

Those numbers also tell us that Nintendo stocked more Wii Us for the two week launch period than they did for the Switch. Bad business decisions!

        • The Wii U was also a holiday launch, so not surprising it would have more stock. And they’ve been pretty upfront about how much Switch stock they’d have. But they caught on to the hype and are going to have more soon. Hopefully in time to keep riding the sales.

  • Man

Expected. The switch can reach the 2m mark at the end of the month, they just need to keep momentum and produce more. BoTW is doing alright sale wise, but keep in mind that the success of the Zelda series in that region is modest at best compared to the rest of the world. If there something I’m missing, feel free to mention it.

In the past, Zelda has been an evergreen franchise but only a few of the games have been killer app system-seller wise. This is one of those games though. In general, a game like Mario Party greatly has outsold games like Zelda and Metroid, and that trend only changed with Wii U era actually.

      • amak11

“We gotta rush them guys, Nintendo beat us to it… what did they do? LETS COPY”

    • flappospammo

      god help us

  • nemo37

These numbers from Japan are quite encouraging. However, while they are good, there is still a long road ahead. I hope strong sales for Switch continue (and I also hope Nintendo manages to produce enough units to take optimal advantage of the current wave of demand). On the other hand, I do hope Nintendo also has plans to revive momentum should they lose it.

    • StuOhQ

Hopefully, they have a price cut in mind and a combination of pack-ins and an advertising blitz for fall/winter titles if the system starts to fizzle. They have to be committed to MAKING this console a success, not just setting the stage and hoping all works out well. Their only strategy with Wii U was… “games sell consoles” – no ads, competitive pricing, or saving throws.

At least they made the effort to keep the 3DS alive. Hopefully, when Switch starts to slow, they’ll inject some stimulus to buy to keep the train rolling.

Once they’ve crossed 20 million consoles shipped by March 2019 they can lean back and let the software revenue carry the console until the next thing comes along.

  • Tlozbj

Not bad for it to be sold out everywhere, hopefullu a big restock happens soon

    • link2metroid

      It’s not sold out everywhere.

      • Stuart

It is pretty much sold out in Japan, yes.
