It did it! The Switch stayed above 45k until Mario Kart launched! Impressive!

Let’s see if next week it can do above 100k.

    • R.Z.

Let’s hope Nintendo manages to ship that many units, otherwise it will stay as it is.

      • Stuart

Yeah,I hope too. It looks like in US is getting a restock for Mario Kart, Let’s see if it will in Japan too.

Over 700,000 Switch units sold in Japan? Freaking amazing!

    • Usama Notkani

Makes you wonder how long before switch sells more than Wii u and ps4 plus how much did the freaking 3ds sell in Japan?

      • MusubiKazesaru

I think if you include every version of the 3DS it surpassed 20 million. I think its sales in Japan are actually better than NA somehow.

        • Usama Notkani

i searched vgchartz. It says 22 million+ but till March 11th. Since Vgchartz just uses Mediacreate numbers for nippon, that would be fairly accurate

          • MusubiKazesaru

22 does sound right. I just knew it was at least 20.

  • Exposer

I hope Echoes sells well that would send the message that we want other remakes and games with good gameplay not only waifus simulators.

    • Ragnell

      I’m sick of waifus too

      • MusubiKazesaru

I don’t mind a marriage option, but it has no place in remakes and the child function has no place in Fates, while in Awakening and in Genealogy it made sense.

        • Ragnell

Fates children were put in the game and the random realms crap was just dumb imo. I hope the new one will put an end to children

          • MusubiKazesaru

The whole “different dimensions” thing they’ve been pulling for since Awakening and then made into a big thing in Fates and Heroes just doesn’t suit the series. It’s fine for DLC, but other…

          • Ragnell

I agree. Just look at por and rd. They were fine without the dimensions stuff etc

    • Tlink7

I don’t mind relation-building in FE, as long as we keep out the ”I wanna bang dis grill because she has the brest animoo tiddies”

      • Exposer

Thats what i talking about im totally OK with having your waifu, i dont judge, but for example i dont know why Faye was included in echoes, but she could be a good character beside being the yandere friendzoned girl.

  • Gemmol Lewis

    Switch a monster out there

  • Puffdaddy

Man, the Switch is having some legs in Japan! I wonder if Mario Kart can sustain those legs until June with Arms though.

  • TDude73

8 weeks and the Nintendo Switch remains unstoppable in Japan!

    • dead fanboy

Mario kart 8 deluxe will definitely help the Nintendo Switch sells to be above 45k easily. I just imagine when Splatoon 2 launches this August…complete dominance. Ps4 is done in japan. Nintendo Switch is the gaming system of choice in japan.

  • theFooFighter

Feels like the switch is really cannibalizing both the 3ds and Vita over there.

    • Vive

Actually N 3DS LL sales hasn’t changed that much since the launch of the Switch, It was around 20k units weekly even before.

Good for Nintendo their old systems are still selling well (Wii U aside for obvious reasons) while the Switch is flying.

      • theFooFighter

Im mainly going off your of the software sales for the 3ds since fe gaiden sold less than half as well as fates at launch and did about 3/5 of awakening.

        • Stuart

Well,at least in Japan it doesn’t have the same appeal since it is a remake of an older FE game.

It will probably do better outside Japan since the original wasn’t released outside Japan.

        • GoldenTriforce

3DS software sales have been fatigued for a while, so it probably has little to do with the Switch.

    • ben

      And the ps4.

  • awng781

Impressive hold. The Switch will probably sell around 80,000-100,000 units next week thanks to the release of MK8D.

  • carlos holguin holguin

it will probably hit 1 million mark by next week..

  • wisdomsprince

    Poor Wii U

    • ben

Still curb stomping the xbox one….

  • awng781

Once Minecraft is released on the Switch, it will mark the beginning of the end for the Vita.

Being the only portable device with a non-mobile version of Minecraft was one of the Vita’s biggest advantages. That advantage will soon disappear.

  • ben

The slow death of the ps4.

  • Gregory Weagle

Switch sold 48,694 units this week. Everyone else combined sold 47,824 units.

  • Tlink7

I feel this is an accurate representation of the Switch situation~

  • awng781

This week is the worldwide launch of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which will be the first big major Switch retail release since the platform’s March 3rd launch.

    Here’s a blast-to-the-past to 2014:
Wii U sales the week before MK8 launched: 9,024
Wii U sales the week of MK8’s launch: 19,312
Mario Kart 8 launch sales: 325,892

    Now back to 2017:
Switch sales the week before MK8D launched: 48,694
Wii U sales the week of MK8D’s launch: ???
    Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s launch sales: ???

If Switch sales follow the same pattern as Wii U sales with the release of MK8 (114% week-over-week sales increase), that means the Switch will sell over 104,000 units this week in Japan.

Of course, that’s just based on a ratio; I’m doubtful Switch sales will actually rise by that much. However, nothing is out of the question. Given how well the Switch has sold (weekly sales have yet to dip below 40,000) despite the lack of new big releases since launch, Nintendo could very sell over 100,000+ Switches this week in Japan, if they are able to supply that many units.

  • Wanderlei

Switch holding strong. When Splatoon 2, Monster Hunter come along it will get turbo boost and the baseline will be even higher.
