• KobobMC

I need 1,000 Platinum points for that Picross.

• MichMasteR

I need just to download it into my CFW and save my coins

• KobobMC

And no physical rewards :(. Maybe later?

• Andrew Burke

I like digital rewards

• DankMaymay

Dude a brand new service came out, how about letting them see how this works out first. Pretty sure Nintendo isn’t going anywhere soon.

• Satanic Cheese

those of us who have been long time nintendo fans still remember the days of club nintendo. which had many collectible nintendo themed items to add to your collection.

they also awarded there best supporters with special items each year. i still have my mario hat as well as my mario statue for reaching platinum/gold status a few years back

• Laikue

“those of us who have been long time nintendo fans still remember the days of club nintendo.”

It closed less than a year ago dude, everyone still remembers it.

• Stuart

Some really good deals, I really want that Super Luigi U.

The DLC from Pikmin 3 costs only 30 coins? Less than the NES games? Not bad. Not bad at all.

• Addy the Wanderer

Smash Bros. 4 DLC better be included.

• Aline Piroutek

That’s what I’m expecting. A shame the best prizes can only be redeemed via Gold Coins.

• theFooFighter

Not bad. Now to hold off on my eshop purchases until this launches in the states

• Andrew Burke

I am now going to hold on any e shop buys until launch

• sancho

Funnily enough, they actually did announce for the Japanese My Nintendo that any purchases made after the release of My Nintendo would count towards getting coins. So it would be smart to wait until the launch.

• AquaBat

I couldn’t contain my joy when I saw WarioWare Touched, but then I saw it was 1,000 yen rather than coins. Granted, it’s clearly exclusive to My Nintendo right now, but still, you’re paying for something in a rewards program that’s supposed to give you stuff for free.

• Brian

That was actually my mistake! Apologies for the confusion. It’s 1,000 Platinum Points.

• Addy the Wanderer

I think WarioWare Touched is supposed to be for the Wii U not the 3DS.

• Brian

Nope, that’s actually correct. It’s 3DS.

• Addy the Wanderer

Really? Then why not release the other DS games that are currenly on Wii U on to the 3DS?

• sancho

Because in this special case, they made it into a DSiWare game. Same game, but it lacks save states and it won’t go into sleep mode when you close the 3DS.

• Zack Averyt

And why wouldn’t a DSiWare game use sleep mode? That was the case for GBA Ambassador games, but that shouldn’t be a thing here.

• sancho

Derp, I’m wrong on the sleep thing, what I meant was pressing the home button will close the game instead of suspending it. My bad

• Zack Averyt

Ah…that makes more sense. Well, sounds like a must-have to me. It’s a classic game, but trying to play it on the Wii U doesn’t work too well. I need this program in America NOW!

• theFooFighter

Well looks like I’m getting miitomo just for the platinum coins

• donut

wait, warioware touched on 3DS? whaaaat?

• Addy the Wanderer

That might be a typo, it’s for the Wii U I’m sure.

• donut

but unlike the other “free” games, it uses platinum coins just like the zelda picross game. so it sounds like a mynintendo exclusive.

• Addy the Wanderer

Platinum coins… Ugh, I probably have to spend $300 just to get that picross game… Just like the G&W DS games…

• donut

platinum = free coins from “missions”.
gold coins are the ones you have to spend money to get, so don’t worry too much about it.

• Addy the Wanderer

Earn gold coins by spending money… Good Golly, Best Buy’s Reward Zone has a better offer than this…

• TheWeasel

In that aspect it’s just like Club Nintendo, so I’m not seeing the problem here.

• Stuart

That’s pretty much the point of a reward system, isn’t it? Rewarding you for what you spend, otherwise would be just Nintendo giving away free stuff to everyone for no reason.

• Addy the Wanderer

What’s the difference between Miitomo Points & Platinum Points and why are they categorized together?

• TheWeasel

It seems fairly straightforward, Miitomo points seem to be an in-app currency specifically for the Miitomo smartphone app, for buying things within the app. Platinum points are for My Nintendo rewards, which can include Miitomo accessories.

• Addy the Wanderer

In-app currency… Ugh, sounds like micro-transactions, and they are going leach me dry…

• TheWeasel

Welcome to the modern smartphone app.

I’m not happy about the state of the so called “games” on smartphones either, but the better free to play games allow you to advance or obtain things in a manner besides paying in real money. Judging by this ability to receive free Miitomo points, it would appear real payment won’t be forced for all accessories.

• Kyoko

Miitomo points are Platinum Points that you can earn playing Miitomo.

• Addy the Wanderer

Great, now I have a choice between buying clothes for my digital avatar or a game that looks it could be sold for $10.

• Joe

Alright, I’m all in – those are some nice rewards.

• Deses

Look at that DS Wario Ware as a 3DS reward.
Confirmes further that we could have downloadable DS games on 3DS (other than DSi titles) if they wanted.

• donut

have we seen any pics of this game yet? although i doubt it, it could be a port/remake.

• sancho

they made it into a DSiWare game. If it’s like other DSiWare games, then it’s not going to have save states and it won’t go to sleep mode when you close your 3DS

• This already is off to a great start!

• ???

So missions can be completed for coins which can be exchanged for discounts, in-game content, and free games. Then you can play the games to earn more coins and get the rewards mentioned above, creating a continuous cycle. Not only is this a much better system than Club Nintendo, but it seems to do a great job competing with Xbox Live and Playstation Network. Nicely done.

• donut

my only hope is that they make these missions available to all games from here on out, and not just a select few. i’d absolutely love if this ended up being the nintendo equivalent to achievements.

• ???

Definitely. I imagine that games being developed with MyNintendo in mind will have missions available.

• Anon

Except I find the avatars to be so ugly 🙁

• ronin4life

I’d argue it surpasses ps+ and xbl handily, seeing as how it isn’t as limited in its rewards and is totally free

• Locky Mavo

Well now, this looks promising. Just need that western region date now.

• Joachim

I want is my emo app Lol

• Radish

This is already better than Club Nintendo. I wonder if NA rewards will be different though so I’m interested to see what we get.

• sancho

Looking at the last gold mission. What game costs 7001+ yen?

• John Enigma

People, I like to point out something here: WarioWare Touched! isn’t gonna be the first downloadable DS(iWare) game for the Nintendo 3DS, despite its exclusivity from the My Nintendo rewards program.

If everybody remembers correctly, like four or five years ago give or take, Nintendo released (by that time) The Legend of Zelda Four Swords Anniversary Edition for the 3DS.

• Pachirisu

that game was free on the eshop for a limited time in 2011, then disappeared until 2013 where it became again available and free for like 2 days (which was when I got it). I’m surprised they haven’t brought it back for 2016, Zelda’s 30th anniversary, then again the year isn’t over…

• Pachirisu

So Gold Coins can only be obtained by buying digital games from the eshop? And this has probably been mentioned already but, do you get anything for all the games/software/and hardware bought between CN closing and the new MN?

• Anon

Looks like I’m making a fake twitter account then. I already have a fake facebook for crap like this.

Will we get these points when we buy games on physical discs? I don’t see the point in buying from eshop when I can’t make my money back off it later. (also it’s not even cheaper).

• Igor C.

I think they should tweak with it a little before bringing it worldwide. The selection of rewards is good for starters, but its functions are rather limited compared to other free softwares that occupy the same if not less space on your phone. I also don’t want another Pokémon Bank scenario, where they weren’t ready for the number of people that would be using the software from day one.

I also gotta wonder if those points come with using microtransactions such as Pokémon Picross or Badge Arcade, where now that you spend money on it, you receive some sort of gratification other than pretty images to stare at.

• Igor C.

ALSO. Yesterday I was watching Extra Credits and was legitimely
terrified when I saw Sesame credit, a system that rewards people that
side with the goverment and excludes people who export stuff and have
negative opinions about the state of things. It’s like if Nintendo is
going to reduce rewards if in Miitomo if you shared or talked about Sony
and Microsoft and had negative opinions about their stuff, but I’m
pretty sure they wouldn’t do that.

• TalesOfBS

This is starting to look better than Steam, just saying.
