24-year-old security researcher pleads guilty to hacking into Nintendo’s network

Zammis Clark, a 24-year-old security researcher, has pleaded guilty to hacking into Nintendo’s network.
Clark actually wreaked havoc first at Microsoft before causing issues with Nintendo last March. By using Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), he was able to gain access to Nintendo’s network. Clark used similar software to hack into Nintendo’s confidential game development servers that house development code for unreleased games. In the end, 2,365 usernames and passwords were stolen. Nintendo became aware of the breach in May 2018.
Nintendo estimates the cost of damages between £700,000 ($913,000) and £1.4 million ($1.8 million). The company has not provided a comment at this time.
Clark has been given a sentence of 15 months imprisonment, suspended for 18 months. A Serious Crime Prevention Order has also been assigned for five years that has an unlimited fine. If breached, he’ll have to serve up to five years in prison.
