[Let’s Talk] Is GoldenEye 007 as good as you remember it?
Something finally happened this week that many had for a long time thought would be impossible: a release of GoldenEye 007. If you’re a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscriber, you can play it right now. For some, this will be their first time reexperiencing the game since its release over two decades ago. GoldenEye 007 on Switch is largely the same as it was back in the day, but you can now at least play it online thanks to the built in functionality of the N64 app.
If you’re one of those people that played GoldenEye 007 when it first came out and have now started it up on Switch, how do you feel it holds up? Is it as good as you remember? And for new players, what are your thoughts on the game that has often been labeled as a true classic? Let us know in the comments.
Highlights from last week’s topic: Fire Emblem Engage impressions

I think the presentation is pretty good, even with the pretty weak character designs, but the story and characters are probably even worse than Shadow Dragon which was very nearly a straight remake of the original game. The writing just isn’t good, which really sucks since I feel like a minimum level of story/character engagement draws you into the game more even if the gameplay is the real meat of the game.
That being said though, the gameplay is the best its been in a while and Hard Mode is making me put real work in, even forcing me to abuse the time reversal mechanic at times. The new changes force a lot of interesting tactical choices, the battle animations are well done, and despite the story reasons for the emblem rings being awful, they feel useful and fun to use without being too overpowered at the moment.
Overall it’s a good game, but just isn’t the overall package that I would have liked (and since it was revealed I kind of expected this to be the case).

Gotta say, only 3 hours in and it’s the most fun I’ve had with fire emblem since the awakening/ Fates games that got me into it in the first place

This is the most modern old school Fire Emblem I’ve seen.
And I am loving every minute of it.

I am in love.
The gameplay is easily the pinnacle of the series. It’s never been better. I also adore the cast of characters, and the story is at least as good as Awakening, a game most hold in high regard.
I haven’t been this into a Fire Emblem game since Awakening, in fact. Three Houses is VERY good, and just recently I decided I like it even more than Awakening, but it never made me FEEL this addicted.
Engage is straight
