After two cancelled Mega Man games – Mega Man Universe and Mega Man Legends 3 – things may not be looking so great for the blue bomber.

On the bright side, we do know that Capcom intends to celebrate Mega Man’s 25th anniversary. Senior vice president Christian Svensson also explicitly said fans have “not seen the last of the Blue Bomber on consoles and handhelds”, while speaking with Nintendo Power.

Svensson told the magazine:

“I can say with certainty that you’ve not seen the last of the Blue Bomber on consoles and handhelds, and, with luck, we’ll be celebrating his 50th anniversary, including all of the games you’re going to enjoy over the next 25 years. That said, an issue we’ve had in the past has been talking about games and announcing them before we’re certain they’re going to come out, which unfortunately has lead to profound disappointment for many fans. So for now, I’m going to have to stay mum about any details.”

Manabu Yamana is the president of Genius Sonority. Before he started up the company, he was in charge of an old developer known as “Heart Beat”. This is the team behind Dragon Quest VI and Dragon Quest VII.

Yamana recently announced on Twitter that he will be reviving the studio. Further news with more details is planned for spring. Yamana also teased that Heart Beat will now be doing business differently than it had before.
