Gamebridge reveals its first titles in collaboration with Rising Star Games.
16th March 2009 – Following its launch announcement last week, Gamebridge announces its first European game release and confirms two further products for 2009.

The first game title to be released by bold new publisher Gamebridge will also be the first in its HAPPY series – Happy Bakery, exclusively for Nintendo DS™.

Happy Bakery is a great cooking simulation game aimed at the very youngest of Nintendo DS gamers to try their hand at baking some of their favourite breads and cakes, without messing up the kitchen. The game gives players the chance to simulate making and baking 40 types of bread and cakes whilst meeting a range of colourful characters that bring an element of adventure as the player attempts to collect all the Bread Fairies.

Though quite a number of people were disappointed with the announcement that Dead Space: Extraction would be an on-rails shooter, it’s clear that the development team is trying to bring a unique product that to the Wii. Based on that alone, fans should definitely be excited about this game. There’s also some great news for those who have high expectations: The Extraction team’s goal is to “push the boundaries” of mature games on Wii.

“Bringing Dead Space: Extraction to the Wii means delivering on a mature and hard-edged title for Wii gamers. At this moment there are some very cool games already on the Wii that are in that mature space but our goal is to push the boundaries of what a mature game on the Wii means.” – Steve Papoutsis, producer of Dead Space: Extraction

Recently, Mr. Papoutsis additionally spoke about the decision to not implement Wii MotionPlus and discussed how the game will take advantage of the Wii’s control set up.

“Given our gameplay we are not currently planning on using the MotionPlus add-on. I think that the technology has a great deal of potential but with our aiming mechanic the existing precision achievable with the Wii Remote works great as it is.”

“We are using a frenetic first person perspective, so all shooting and dismemberment is handled by aiming the Wii Remote and firing at the Necromorphs in the game. In addition to shooting, our Telekinesis and Stasis mechanics are also handled in a similar way. We have gone to great lengths to make sure the controls feels natural for the Wii and are trying to avoid any unnecessary gestures that do not make sense in the Dead Space universe.”

NPD has released official numbers for SEGA’s House of the Dead: Overkill. According to the organization, the game managed to sell 45,000 units in the month of February. The game launched on February 10, so the 45K number accounts for a little less than three weeks of sales. NPD analyst Anita Frazier also says that Overkill was somewhere around the 50th spot in the top-100 SKUs in February.

Now…I’m having a bit of a tough time believing this speculation. Nonetheless, the rumor is that The Conduit will release on April 24 in Europe. There doesn’t seem to be any real base to this, especially when this would mean that the game would be out in about a month. If anything, I would think that The Conduit would release in North America first, and then Europe. SEGA has not confirmed or denied anything at this point, but again, I don’t think this is too likely.
