Now this is a bit strange. Normally, when one purchases a DS, he/she would probably expect to find a handheld inside. But for one 16-year-old, that was not the case at all. When Jodi Wykle’s son opened up his new DS box, a pile of rocks and a Chinese newspaper were found.

Wykle bought the system at Wal-Mart, but the store would not refund give a refund. According to the store, the item had never been returned and said that Nintendo should be contacted. However, it was her son’s birthday, so the lady bought another system. Just to be sure that rocks were not in the new DS box, Wykle forced Wal-Mart to look inside before making a purchase.

Wykle reached out to Nintendo, though this was of course Wal-Mart’s problem. Fortunately, after national representatives were contacted, she was refunded for her initial purchase and was also given a $20 gift card.

Thanks for the news tip, Jake.

Right now, it’s not entirely clear which games will be playable. All of these games, however, will be present at E3 in one way or another. EA also says that “more” content will be at the event, but we’ll have to wait and see what surprises the company has in store.

Looks like Atlus site has been hacked. The company has sent out an email notifying fans of the issue and said that their domain was compromised.

Dearest fans of Atlus,
Today (4/24/2009), our web domain (atlus.com) was hacked and compromised. A third-party entity embedded malicious code into the script, and regretfully, for a period of a few hours (from roughly 9:00am PST until 2:30pm PST), this malicious software (which we believe we have identified as a Trojan) may have made its way onto your systems.

The faith and trust of our fans is of the utmost importance to us, a responsibility we don’t take lightly. As such, we are deeply troubled by this development, and we are now working to repair and restore the website.

High Voltage Software’s Eric Nofsinger has made a pretty bold claim about the quality of FPS games on the Wii. According to Nofsinger, Wii owners have no high-quality titles in the genre they can purchase.

“We’ve put our money where our mouths are and stated loud and clear: Yes. There is an audience for a quality FPS on the Wii. They just don’t have one they can buy…”

Personally, I’m not entirely sure if I would go so far as to say that the Wii does not have a quality FPS title. There is certainly a dearth of games to choose from but Call of Duty: World at War and Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 are both admirable efforts. And don’t forget about Metroid Prime 3, which contains some shooting gameplay.
