No split-screen multiplayer in The Conduit to prevent loss of quality

“It is mostly for that reason [loss of game quality during split-screen]. When we set out, management handed us a box that had the things that we must incorporate, and one of those things was “Best looking game on the Wii” so, we were very concerned with loss of graphics quality – to basically double render the game on the box. As you can see, we’ve really pushed things with the bump mapping, the shading, the lighting and so forth. But again, it’s something that our in-house technology group is looking into, seeing if there is a way that we can milk the system for more. So that possibly in future titles we can manage that. But for The Conduit, that was the main reason.” – Lead Game Designer Rob Nicholls
Personally, I don’t mind the loss of split-screen in The Conduit. It would have been nice obviously, but like Mr. Nicholls said, it’s something that could be implemented in the future. Considering everything the development team has managed to cram into the game, the lack of split-screen won’t turn me away from making a purchase.

Harmonix not ruling out Rock Band for DS
Posted on 15 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in DS, News | 0 comments
“We are looking carefully at the DS, and certainly aren’t ruling out developing for it in the future. However, for right now, our focus is on Rock Band Unplugged as a PSP title.” – Greg LoPiccolo, VP of product development at Harmonix
Guitar Hero has dominated the DS and has been met with a great response from consumers. It would seem almost natural that Rock Band would follow a similar path if the franchise were to migrate to the handheld.

Enroll in Magic Academy, Build Friendships, Cast Spells and Embark On Adventure In This Brand-New Title That Is Fun For All Ages
Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. today revealed new game details and screenshots from the upcoming real-time adventure title Magician’s Quest Mysterious Times for Nintendo DS™. Magician’s Quest Mysterious Times is a unique combination of an adventure game and simulation RPG. Players are tasked with attending classes at Magic Academy while learning the mysteries of magic and the art of casting spells while building relationships with other students. As players attend classes, they’ll be immersed in a living, breathing world where time progresses as it does in the real world, and each week, player’s skills are put to the test in a new magical adventure. Using their spell casting abilities and unique interactions with other characters and their surroundings, players are confronted with puzzles and adventures that will challenge their skill.
Magician’s Quest Mysterious Times contains over 50 mysterious events and introduces a variety of unique characters. Additionally, the town in Magician’s Quest Mysterious Times is packed with all sorts of crazy characters and different locations to make purchases. While the majority of the people in town are students, each with their own personality, there are a number of others who live and work in town. Here’s a guide to just a few of those people, what they do and where you can spend your hard earned Ritch, the currency gained within the game.
Tecmo: Nintendo has declined to publish Fatal Frame IV in North America, won’t be released
Posted on 15 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii | 3 Comments
“Nintendo holds the publishing rights to ‘Fatal Frame Wii,’ which was developed by Tecmo LTD. and Grasshopper Manufacture and released in Japan on July 31, 2008. Nintendo of America has since then decided not to publish the title in North America – consequently, the title will not be released in this territory. As the owner of the IP, Tecmo feels very unfortunate that the fans of the series in North America will not have a chance to play the game, but respects the final decision made by Nintendo of America.” – Tecmo spokesperson
Looks like something fishy is going on here. You may remember that Reggie Fils-Aime stated a few months back that Nintendo “is not the publisher” of Fatal Frame IV in North America. But apparently, the onus is all on them to see the game come stateside. All I can say is – There will be some very disappointed Nintendo fans if this game doesn’t see a North American release – myself included!
