A few new Shin Megami Tensei IV tidbits have been translated from this week’s Famitsu. In its latest issue, the publication provided information regarding the game’s battles.

Shin Megami Tensei IV will employ a press turn system. If players exploit an enemy’s weakness in battle, their party will gain additional actions.

When defeated, players will come across the ferryman from the Sanzu River. Give him a Macca and you’ll be back in action. This is unlike Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne – you simply head back to the main menu when defeated in the PS2 title.

Is Shin Megami Tensei IV proving too difficult for you? Then simply change the game’s difficulty to “easy”, which will allow defeated players to continue after losing a certain number of times.

Nintendo is offering a new incentive for players to collect one million coins in New Super Mario Bros. 2.

Australian players will join a special million coins club upon reaching the goal. Additionally, Nintendo will be handing out a unique certificate.

You can see all of the Australian millionaires here. Gamers have until March 31 to reach the total.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf has not only been a huge success at retail, but also on the 3DS eShop.

New Leaf has sold 2.73 million units in Japan through the end of December 2012. Based on data from Nintendo’s latest financials and data from Media Create as well as Famitsu, it looks like the game has sold a total of almost 800,000 copies digitally, 500,000 of which are direct downloads from the eShop.

Amazingly, the latest Animal Crossing has achieved close to 30% of its sales from digital downloads.

Brain Age: Concentration Training has been dated for Europe. 3DS owners can pick up the title starting on April 12.

In Europe, the new Brain Age goes by the lengthy title: “Dr Kawashima’s Devilish Brain Training: Can you stay focused?”.

Nintendo of America already confirmed a launch date for Brain Age: Concentration Training a few weeks ago. It’s hitting the states on February 10

Let’s face it: Nintendo’s early 2013 lineup is bleak. Nintendo only has one major, core game releasing in January and February: Fire Emblem: Awakening.

Things will begin to turn around in March, according to president Satoru Iwata. Through the rest of the year and into 2014, “Nintendo will release a cavalcade of strong, fan-favorite software titles for both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.”

Iwata wrote in an investor’s statement:

“Beginning in March and continuing through the rest of the calendar year and into 2014, Nintendo will release a cavalcade of strong, fan-favorite software titles for both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. New entries in the Mario Kart, Super Mario, Legend of Zelda, LEGO City, Wii Fit and Pikmin franchises will help Nintendo regain momentum for Wii U. Additionally, highly anticipated Nintendo 3DS games such as Luigi’s Mansion 2 and Animal Crossing: New Leaf have the potential to be hardware drivers and bring new audiences to the platform.”

Nintendo published its latest financial results earlier today. While Big N did return to profitability, it was forced to negatively revise forecasts.

Read on below for a summary of Nintendo’s latest financials. Note that each figure below accounts for sales received between April to December of last year.

– Net income of 14,545 million (around $159m)
– Net sales estimates for the full year revised down by 17.3%
– Wii U has sold 3.06 million units worldwide as of December 2012
– 1.32 million consoles sold in North America
– Another 900,000 units sold in Europe
– 830,000 systems sold in Japan
– Wii sold 3.53 million units from April to December
– Nintendo has previously stated that it aims to sell 5.5 million Wii Us before the end of March, but it has now revised this target to 4 million
– New estimate for game sales: 16 million as opposed to the original 24 million
– 11.69 million games have been sold thus far
– Best-selling Wii U launch game was Nintendo Land
– Nintendo Land sold 2.33 million units
– 3DS sales saw a big increase
– Software sales up 41% year-on-year
– Hardware sales up 11%

With today’s Junction Point closure news, the Epic Mickey IP was left in limbo. Junction Point was the main maker of the two Epic Mickey games, but now the team is no more.

Disney has since confirmed that it has retained rights to the franchise. For now, however, the company has no plans the series’ future. This one will likely remain dormant for a very long time, if not forever.

Jaleco made and published Ninja JaJaMaru-Kun way back in 1985. One cancelled DS game later, the series is now being revived on the 3DS.

This week’s Famitsu reveals a new Ninja JaJaMaru-Kun, subtitled “Princess Sakura and the Secret Dragon”. Hamster will distribute the title in Japan on April 25 for 4,980 yen.
