Treasure president Masato Maegawa, speaking with GamesTM this month, said that the studio is considering “how to take advantage of the 3D” offered by the 3DS. He also confirmed a new, unannounced game for the handheld.

Maegawa also commented on the use of 3D when it comes to sprites versus polygons:

“We are very keen on developing on 3DS. We think about how to take advantage of the 3D. The only difference between 2D and 3D games is whether you use sprites or polygons so a 3D game can be made into a 2D game. So it’s not a preference of 2D or 3D, it’s the quality of the game itself. But my preference is 2D. It’s hard to preserve the quality of the game when you make it completely in 3D.”

Remember Arc System Works’ DSiWare title BlayzBloo? Reports surfacing out of this week’s Famitsu reveal that a follow-up of sorts is in the works, titled “BlayzBloo: Chrono Phantasma”.

Famitsu doesn’t make clear if this will be a downloadable or retail release. At the moment, the only piece of information we have concerns Chrono Phantasma’s release timeframe. It will be out in Japan this winter.

Paper Mario: Sticker Star Takes Collecting Stickers to a Whole New Level of Fun

REDMOND, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– The newest installment of the Paper Mario franchise flattens the mustached hero into a two dimensional, paper-thin character and nothing could be more fun. Paper Mario: Sticker Star for the portable Nintendo 3DS introduces a new way for players to solve puzzles and execute attacks using stickers, which are found throughout the game. The colorful game world looks like a shoebox diorama, and takes on a sense of depth in full 3D, without the need for special glasses.

“The Paper Mario series is known for its inventive battles and quirky humor,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “The 3D graphics and the introduction of stickers add a fresh new element that will have players glued to their games.”
