Satoru Iwata briefly mentioned Animal Crossing 3DS during tonight’s Nintendo Direct broadcast. In Japan, it will be titled “Tobidase Dobutsu no Mori or Leap Out Animal Crossing”. More importantly, it’s hitting store shelves this fall.

Wednesday’s 3DS firmware update isn’t all about folders. Nintendo will also be including patch functionality, which will affect titles such as Mario Kart 7. The game’s update will correct unauthorized shortcuts that have been discovered in the game.


Two Pokemon-related product have been announced on the latest Japanese Nintendo Direct. Here’s what we know about both thus far:

Pokemon AR Searcher

– AR shooting game
– Bring over Pokemon you catch to Pokemon Black/White 2
– Releasing on June 23
– 300 yen

Pokemon Zenkoku Zukan Pro

– Updated version of Pokemon Rittai Zukan BW
– Out in July
– 1,500 yen
– This serves as a replacement for Rittai Zukan BW
– The old app will be removed from the eShop on June 17
– Still will receive SpotPass updates for the older app through the end of 2012

New Super Mario Bros. 2 is closer than you may think. It was already revealed during the latest Nintendo Direct that the game would be launching in August. Nintendo of America has confirmed the same date for the states. In a few hours, we’ll most likely receive the same news for Europe.

The next 3DS system update will arrive on April 25. The highlight of the new firmware will allow users to create folders on the system’s home menu. 60 pieces of content can be placed in each folder. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata mentioned in the latest Nintendo Direct that you’ll be able to name each folder, and the first character of the name will be displayed as part of the folder’s icon.
