Nintendo has confirmed StreetPass and SpotPass support for Fire Emblem: Awakening.

Through StreetPass, custom “My Unit” characters players create can be swapped with other users. These characters will be added to your army. As far as SpotPass is concerned, Nintendo will be distributing a number of gaiden maps through the online feature.

Yet another interview with Koichi Hayashida has made its way online. This time, Game Informer has published their own Q&A with the Super Mario 3D Land director.

There are two things in particular to take away from the interview. A Super Mario 3D Land sequel (like Galaxy 2) is unlikely, as is a 3D remake of Super Mario 64.

Super Mario 64 is a specifically interesting case. In the “testing” phase for 3D Land, the team took a level from Mario 64 and basically threw a 3D coat on it. However, as Hayashida mentions below, the staff soon realized “that the way the levels were all designed was going to create so many stereo window violations”. Hayashida added, “we did rule out a remake of Super Mario 64 in stereoscopic view on the Nintendo 3DS.”

Head past the break for the full rundown of Hayashida’s comments.
