General Nintendo

Nintendo’s first-half line-up of games is practically a dream come true for fans. Two huge games – Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid: Other M – will be released in just a few months, as well as Sin and Punishment: Star Successor. With such an impressive first-half line-up, though, most Nintendo fans can’t help but wonder what Nintendo has up their sleeves for the remainder of the year. While Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime wouldn’t reveal anything on the latest GameTrailers TV, he did say that he is confident about the second-half of the year because of the long tails of their titles that will have already been released and because of the new games that will launch later in 2010.

“I am confident. And I say that because we are very fortunate that we have titles with long tails. And so in this first-half of the year, we not only have the benefit of Galaxy 2 and Other M, as well as Sin and Punishment and Monster Hunter Tri and Red Steel 2, great line-up, but we also have still contributing strong sales of Wii Fit Plus and New Super Mario Bros. Wii. My expectation for the second half is we’ll have not-only Fit Plus and Super Mario Bros. for Wii, but we’ll also have the ongoing tail of Galaxy 2 and Other M as well, plus all of the new titles. So yeah, I’m feeling pretty good for the second-half.

This is some pretty sad news. On March 1st, CING filed for bankruptcy having suffered liabilities totaling 256 million yen. The company developed titles for Nintendo platforms since 2005 and created games such as Hotel Dusk, Another Code, and most recently, Little King’s Story. Last Window, CING’s latest project, was released in Japan in January, but failed to light up the sales charts. Unfortunately for CING, poor sales was a common occurrence for most of their products.

While it looks as though Famitsu’s mystery reveal has been solved, a different Japanese magazine has an announcement of their own on the horizon. The next issue of Jump will feature the first details of a new title in an established game series. Jump stated in its teaser that “you definitely won’t want to miss this”. Although it’s possible that the magazine will reveal a new Tales or Square Enix project, no one really knows for sure at this point. If it’s Nintendo-related, we’ll have some news about the game in a week’s time.

This is pretty neat and something that most Nintendo fans probably aren’t aware of. There’s a small music nugget that comes from the results screen in Mario Kart 64. After about fifty minutes, a different type of loop will play for a minute and a half or so. After that, the music will return to normal. Take a look at the video below to see for yourself!

Why Nintendo would change up the music after fifty minutes is beyond me. But this a nice little secret that Nintendo fans may appreciate!
