General Nintendo

The presentation will begin in a little more than 20 minutes – 6 AM ET / 3 AM ET / 12 PM CET.

The latest twist in the THQ saga has resulted in a set date in which the company’s assets will be auctioned off. This will be taking place on January 22.

As previously mentioned, Warner Bros. is one of a few publishers that could get involved. You can throw EA into the mix as well, and perhaps Ubisoft, too. Different companies may choose to purchase individual THQ franchises/games.

Tomorrow’s Pokemon Direct, which will feature a big announcement of some sort, will be ten minutes of long. That should be plenty of time for an announcement and video from Nintendo president Satoru Iwata.

Any final guesses, guys? New generation Pokemon title? Anyone hoping this will be a Wii U title?

There could have been a Streets of Rage 4. Series composer Yuzo Koshiro told Destructoid at MAGFest 11 this weekend that he was contacted about the project about ten years ago. The team made a prototype soon after, but SEGA rejected the title.

Even though fans haven’t seen a new Streets of Rage title in many, many years, there have been a few attempts to revive the series. Most recently, a behind-the-scenes prototype remake from Ruffian Games was outed.

These images are quite impressive. Perhaps after seeing the shots, maybe Ubisoft will consider taking Assassin’s Creed to China?

Crash Bandicoot has been dormant for many years. The last mainline entry, Crash: Mind over Mutant, came out in 2008. There have been a few mobile titles released since then, and Radical Entertainment did work on a couple of cancelled projects.

Perhaps a reboot could be in the cards. One eagle-eyed NeoGAF member came across a photo from Vicarious Visions’s Facebook page, which seems to show a new design for Crash Bandicoot tucked away in the corner.

Could there be a brand new title in the works? If so, will it feature an updated Crash Bandicoot?

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata opened up about Animal Crossing: New Leaf’s success – from sales to the popularity of the game’s screenshot tool – in an interview with Japanese publication Nikkei. There are other Animal Crossing topics addressed as well, such as the disappointment of Wii’s City Folk and how the team approached the 3DS game from there.

Aside from Animal Crossing, Iwata talked quite a bit about smart phones, shared thoughts on free-to-play, and more.

Read up on Iwata’s comments below.

Warner Bros. is among a number of companies interested in buying THQ’s assets. But rather than acquiring THQ’s full slate outright, buyers could instead opt to buy individual games and franchises.

This is situation that Warner Bros. has experience with. In 2009, the company bought Mortal Kombat and Spy Hunter from Midway Games.

Identities of the other companies interested in THQ’s assets have not been revealed.
