Capcom interested in future acquistions, series’ sales data

“We will be actively pursuing friendly acquisitions and partnerships. In order to ensure stable and sustained growth, we must expand our business in the larger size overseas market where there is ample room for growth. We therefore have no plans to merge with any major Japanese video game publishers or toy manufacturers in the foreseeable future since it is unlikely to contribute to sales expansion overseas. Such a merger could also restrict our licensing business opportunities. On the other hand, we are aggressively going after acquisition and partnership opportunities if they benefit our goal of creating gaming content with universal market appeal. As I mentioned earlier, K2 Corporation with whom we have developed titles for overseas was made our wholly owned subsidiary during this fiscal year. Our aggressive strategy on merger and acquisition has already begun producing good results.” -Kenzo Tsujimoto

High Voltage: Wii the best platform for FPS games
Posted on 16 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii | 2 Comments
Even though there are some stand-out FPS titles on the Wii, the release of such games are too few and far between. Metroid Prime 3 was essentially the stepping stone for FPS controls on Wii, followed by Medal of Honor: Heroes 2. What does High Voltage Software, creators of The Conduit think about FPS games on the Wii? Eric Nofsinger, in an interview with NintendoFIN, noted that Nintendo’s system is best for FPS titles. “Well, the Wii has the unique motion-sensitive controls that make it the best platform for FPS games; this means we have weapons and gameplay that makes use of motions and movements that other games cannot. We also have some interesting puzzle-solving going on with our All Seeing Eye (ASE) device that allows players to reveal invisible hazards, secrets, and enemies. And last, but not least, its NOT set during World War II.”
Nofsinger also revealed that The Conduit will not support split-screen multiplayer, although the development team is considering co-op options. Additionally, High Voltage Software is trying to decide whether to put Animales de la Muerte up as a full retail release.
No major Capcom surprises at TGS, more to discuss in early 2009

The Tokyo Game Show is one of the biggest gaming events of the year. In fact, some of the most memorable gaming announcements have been unveiled at the event. As far as this year goes, it may very well be just as important as it has been in the past. It might be interesting to note, however, that although Capcom (one of the larger companies at the event) will have “a thing or two” that the public isn’t aware of, there will not be any “major” surprises coming from Capcom at TGS.
“I’m not sure that we’ve announced what we’re showing… so I can’t break that here (especially as it’s Japan focused). I don’t think there’s “major” surprises, but a thing or two you aren’t aware of. There will be more to talk about in early 2009.” – Christian Svensson, Corporate Officer/VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development
