Capcom is releasing an update for Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate today that will allow users to play the 3DS title online. You’ll need a couple of items in order to take advantage of the new functionality: a Wii U and a wired connection (LAN adapter). This will be limited to one person per Wii U.

During today’s Japanese Nintendo Direct, Satoru Iwata announced that The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons will be released on the 3DS eShop next Thursday. Both games will cost 600 yen each. Need for Speed: Most Wanted is launching on Wii U next month. EA originally published the game back in November. Going forward, Criterion has confirmed that future releases in the series will arrive on the Wii U at the same time as other platforms.

We have learned an awful lot about the Zelda series with the recent release of Hyrule Historia, and the latest revelation to come out of the pages of the textbook-sized fan service is that the Gameboy oddity Link’s Awakening actually may have had some form of co-op at one point.

The information comes in the form of development documents for the game, one of which includes a picture of two Links fighting a boss with the note “What’re we gonna do about 1P mode?”. This would certainly indicate they had briefly considered the option at one point, though I would be skeptical if someone told me they actually ever programmed the option in to try it out.

Good news, European gamers: the next Wii U Virtual Console release from Nintendo, F-Zero, will run at 60Hz.

Balloon Fight was the first VC release for the platform but ran at 50Hz, resulting in outcry from fans. Such games run slower and simply aren’t the way they were intended to be presented.

Thankfully, this is something players won’t have to worry about with F-Zero.
