Two Tribes plans to be very involved with Miiverse

Developers have started to interact more with fans than ever before. There are outlets such as Twitter that allow for direct communication – something that wasn’t around in previous years.
Miiverse is another way for developers to stay in touch with consumers, and Two Tribes has plans to take advantage of the service.
When asked for Two Tribes’ thoughts on Miiverse, founder Collin van Ginkel praised the feature and noted that the studio plans “to be very active in the Toki Tori 2 community”.
“I think it’s the best gift I’ve received in years. It allows us to directly talk to our players through a home console, which has not ever been possible before. We expect to be very active in the Toki Tori 2 community when it launches.”
Thanks to Jürgen Chytry for the tip.

The sequel to the acclaimed adventure game The Longest Journey might end up on platforms beyond just PC and Mobile devices, according to the game’s developer Red Thread Games. While Dreamfall Chapters will undoubtedly come out on PC and Mac first, “going forward”, Red Thread listed off Wii U, PS4, “Durango”, and even Ouya as possible platforms for appearances, assuming the game can reach at least a $1.75m fundraising goal.
EA: It’s “really not true” that we’ll have micro-transactions in all of our games, but all our mobile games will
Posted on 11 years ago by Austin(@NE_Austin) in General Gaming, News, Podcast Stories | 0 comments
– EA CFO Blake Jorgensen
It’s understandable that these two statements got lumped together, but the fact that Dead Space 3 includes micro-transactions up and down would seem to indicate that– even if it’s not 100% consistent– a lot of EA’s console games will be going this route in the future. Perhaps some will be left out, but just because they’ve now clarified their position it doesn’t indicate that they won’t use micro-transactions as a primary source of income going forward.
Monster Games working on Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News, Podcast Stories | 0 comments
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D isn’t being made by Retro. Rather, Monster Games is handling the port. A rating on the OFLC lists the studio as the game’s author (or developer).
Monster Games’ previous work includes Excite Truck, Excitebots, and Pilotwings Resort.
A recent finding on LinkedIn indicated that Monster Games was making some sort of 3DS title. Based on the OFLC entry, it would appear that Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D is the project in question.
Miyamoto on long Wii U load times and wait for update, system will be “very much improved” by summer
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Podcast Stories, Wii U | 0 comments
Nintendo is preparing two Wii U updates for Wii U. The first, due next month, “adds new features and further improvements to the user experience”. It should specifically speed up load times between software.
The duration of Wii U’s load times has been a point of discussion since launch. One might be wondering: why weren’t these issues addressed before the console shipped?
Shigeru Miyamoto responded to this very question in a recent interview:

Capcom’s Svensson: Ace Attorney collection on 3DS has been “proposed” many times, but no news to share

Everyone’s favorite community manager Christian Svensson responded to a fan today who asked him if we might see an Ace Attorney collection hit 3DS in the future. His reply?
– Capcom Community Manager Christian Svensson
Well, I know I would certainly pick up an Ace Attorney collection, despite having played all five games already! If they do end up doing this and you find yourself in the unfortunate position of never having played these games, do yourself a favor and pick it up.
Various WayForward employees break off to form “Yacht Club Games”
Posted on 11 years ago by Austin(@NE_Austin) in General Gaming, News, Podcast Stories | 0 comments
The studio behind such great games as Mighty Switch Force! and A Boy and His Blob (Wii) has lost a few of its members, as a former designer and director, a lead programmer, and a gameplay programmer have all left the company to form a studio called “Yacht Club Games”. It’s unclear whether any more employees have left WayForward, or if the new studio is any larger than just the three people, but what we do know is that they’ll be making a software announcement soon.
Rumor has it that their game will be for Android, Steam, iOS, Ouya, and Google Play– so nothing you guys will be hearing about here!
