Rumor: 3DS to have achievements, friends list, potential voice chat
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Rumors | 5 Comments
This information comes from EA’s Ryan Stradling, who was speaking about the 3DS on Nintendo’s E3 site…
“Playing games is about playing with my friends, and I want to know when my other friends are online, and that’s going to give me the ability and it’s also going to let me know what games they’re playing, real-time updates that I can get via that, sports scores because I’m interested in sports, exchanging achievements with other players that are in 3D. When you look at the DS penetration rate, there’s going to be a lot of friends for me to go talk to and communicate with.”
I’m marking this as a rumor for now since Nintendo has yet to confirm this information outright. Also, the voice chat bit isn’t too clear at this point. Still, this news sounds exciting nonetheless.
Rumor: Significant third-party accessory to be revealed at E3
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii | 6 Comments
This information comes from a recent news article from Nintendo-Revolution…
“Let us start with what I know. A big publisher will present a very promising peripheral for Wii. You might think that all sensible peripherals have been done, but not quite. This one could become quite useful. And, surprisingly, the publisher has managed to secure the support of other publishers for it, I am told. So this one will not gather dust as soon as that ´Tony Hawk Ride´ board, they hope. I will only give you a cryptic hint: the peripheral will enable some seminal DS games to be adapted to Wii better than would otherwise have been possible. A cryptic hint, like I said.”
Usually I wouldn’t post a rumor like this, but this particular author has been correct on quite a few occasions. Most third-party accessories haven’t been able to match Nintendo’s success with add-ons, but based on the comments above, it seems like this one could.
Rumor: Zelda Wii details
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii | 14 Comments
Even though I always enjoy this time of year, the amount of rumors published on gaming websites skyrockets to astronomical levels as a result of E3. There have already been a number of Zelda Wii-related rumors over the last few months, but I’ve been extremely hesitant to post them since Nintendo tends to keep secrets quiet. Since E3 is on the horizon, though, we might as well have a bit of fun, right? The “details” about Zelda Wii below have been labeled as “confirmed” by Zelda Informer, but I’m not believing anything until Tuesday!
– The game will just be called “The Legend of Zelda”
– Takes place several hundred years before Ocarina of Time, how the Master Sword was created
– Character’s name from the art is Zordiana
– Hookshot returning, has new abilities, has the grappling ability from Wind Waker, doesn’t use MotionPlus
– Somtimes “draw” a symbol on a door with your sword to open it
– Bow controls similar to that of Wii Sports Resort
– Two difficulty levels, though Miyamoto was against it, Normal and Hero modes, tougher enemies and no “Super Guide” in Hero mode
– On-stage demo at E3, playable, is an ice “dungeon”, you won’t notice when you’re in a dungeon as it’ll be a smooth transition, there will be dungeons with no bosses and vise versa

Rumor: Retro Studios working on new Donkey Kong game
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii | 13 Comments
Retro Studios has already worked on a major Nintendo franchise in Metroid and now rumor has it that the company has moved on to Donkey Kong. That’s all IGN – who initially reported the story – seems to know, but we’re just a few days away from finding out if the nebulous speculation is spot on.
Although Retro Studios released a title last year, it was only a remake of the Prime titles bundled into one package. Alongside it, many had logically assumed that they were working on a bigger, original project as well. Last year, Michael Kelbaugh said “I think you’ll be very excited when you find out what we’re working on.” Does the prospect of a Retro Studios-made title excite you?
Rumor: Level-5 to fully unveil Time Travelers at E3
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Rumors | 5 Comments
In April, Professor Layton developer Level-5 announced their latest project in Famitsu called Time Travelers. The company only decided to share only a few select details about the game as well as a piece of art.
However, based on a comment posted on Jiro Ishii’s Twitter account, it seems likely that the title will receive a full unveiling at E3. Ishii, the game’s director, said that his preparations are complete and that it’s been ten years since he last visited Los Angeles. Time Travelers may very well be in development for the 3DS, as Level-5 CEO previously stated that it would be coming to “hardware that’s not yet in this world.”
Rumor: Metroid: Other M to be released in Europe on September 24
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii | 3 Comments
Nintendo has provided a firm release date for Metroid: Other M in North America and Japan, but out friends in Europe have been left waiting to know when they can play Samus’ next adventure. Well, if some information from a distributor is to be believed, the game will be hitting European territories on September 24. An official date probably isn’t too far away, as Nintendo tends to share worldwide launch details about their titles at E3.

Rumor: Animal Crossing to be one of the first 3DS titles
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Rumors | 6 Comments
Destructoid is reporting that Nintendo will be launching a brand new Animal Crossing title alongside their upcoming handheld, the 3DS. A demo has allegedly been shown to developers and publishers, with an announcement prepared for next Tuesday. Naturally, Nintendo only provided a brief comment, explaining that the company “does not comment on rumors or speculation.” We’ll find out if there’s any truth to this rumor next week at E3.
Rumor: Nintendo allowing third-parties to reveal 3DS software once E3 begins
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Rumors | 1 Comment
It has been said for quite some time that Nintendo will be unveiling their next handheld, the 3DS, along with the system’s first round of software at E3 next week. Obviously the Big N has some titles in development, but what about third-parties? Well, according to Game Informer, other companies have been told that they can announce their projects once E3 begins.
The thing is, Nintendo’s conference will be taking place next Tuesday even though the trade show officially begins one day prior. So will third-parties reveal their games on Monday? Or will they wait until Nintendo’s conference is over?
Rumor: Nintendo has an E3 surprise
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, Rumors | 7 Comments
This information comes from a Game Informer news article…
“Rumor also has it that Nintendo’s stocking a surprise for its E3 presentation. We’ve heard about the 3DS and some sites report that the next major Zelda game is confirmed — so what else could it possibly be? A new Star Fox?”
In a way, I suppose this isn’t really a rumor at all. Nintendo always brings a few surprises to E3, good or bad. The 3DS will be a surprise in itself and I’m betting we’ll see some unexpected software for the system.
Rumor: Leaked Square Enix game is Nerkas
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, Rumors | 2 Comments
GameVideos user gamerfan85 uploaded a video to the site yesterday, explaining that he captured footage from a new game called Nerkas outside of the Staples Center in Los Angeles. A quick look at nerkas.com reveals that the domain was registered by Square Enix Europe. Now, we know Square Enix has been teasing a new game for the past several weeks, but it isn’t clear at the moment if it is related to Project X. In fact, it isn’t clear if this is even real at all!
