Rumor: nVidia’s Tegra System-on Chip to be a part of next DS hardware
Posted on 15 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in DS, Rumors | 10 Comments
Rumor has it that Nintendo has already chosen nVidia’s Tegra System-on-Chip processor for its next handheld system. Because the DS’ hardware foundation comes from 16-bit and 32-bit ARM cores, the “next-gen DS” would most likely be backward compatible with the DS/DSi software. Nintendo is also rumored to be showing the system off for the first time sometime in late 2010. I should note that this information to be speculation at this point. If Nintendo were to use this technology, the upcoming system would be more powerful than the Wii.
Rumor: New Wii bundle in the UK

We’ve been hearing all sorts of rumblings surrounding a Wii price cut in North America, but the UK may be receiving a bundle instead. The rumored bundle will supposedly include Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, a Wiimote/nunchuck, MotionPlus, and the Wii console. As was previously mentioned, the bundle would allegedly cost the same price, but consumers who would have been interested in purchasing Wii Sports Resort could save a decent amount of money.
Rumor: New Super Mario Bros. Wii dated for North America, Europe
Posted on 15 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii | 2 Comments
A few weeks ago, we heard that New Super Mario Bros. Wii would be launching in November. This made perfect sense, since Nintendo’s only release is Style Savvy. But no there’s a specific rumored date. Apparently North American gamers will be able to play the title on November 15. Meanwhile, it’ll ship two weeks later in Europe, on November 27. As usual, we’ll have to wait and see if these dates stick but consider this a rumor until Nintendo makes an official announcement.
Is Game Informer going to have a blow out of Epic Mickey next month?
Posted on 15 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii | 15 Comments
For the most part, Mickey Mouse’s role in video games has been limited to the Kingdom Hearts series. A few months ago though, leaked concept art and details were released for Warren Spector’s “Epic Mickey,” which will supposedly focus on old/forgotten characters that wish to take revenge against Mickey. And in next month’s Game Informer, the game may finally see a proper announcement.
In the October 2009 issue of the magazine, Game Informer provided the following teaser:
Something epic is brewing
Next month, Game Informer unleashes a storm of epic proportions with its new design and website relaunch, and the star of the show is someone you just might know…
On the second page of the teaser, there’s a picture of Mickey’s head…Just without the face. I’d say there’s a good chance that the cover story for next month’s G.I. is Epic Mickey, especially considering that there seems to be emphasis on the word “epic.”

Rumor: Factor 5 Wii titles to be finished in 2009
Posted on 15 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii | 7 Comments
Factor 5, in the minds of many Wii owners, will most likely always be remembered for their rumored involvement with the revival of Kid Icarus. Yet in the past few months, the possibility that the company has been working on a new Pilotwings game has seemed more likely. There’s a bit of additional speculation about Factor 5 today, though.
Factor 5 is said to have been working on two Wii projects most recently. And apparently, development on both games will be wrapped up by year’s end. Only one of the titles has a publisher right now, however.
There’s also one other piece of interesting news. Although it’s almost a year old, two Wii-exclusive projects were found in an October 2008 listing of a client record from Digital Development Management. Even more intriguing is that Nintendo was listed as the publisher of one of the unannounced titles. As far as the genre goes, it’s action, flight, RPG, or adventure. Perhaps that Nintendo-published game may have been referring to a Pilotwings for Wii.
Rumor: Wii to receive a price drop in October
Posted on 15 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii | 4 Comments
Remember how, just a few months ago, numerous Nintendo representatives including President Satoru Iwata stated that there are no plans for a price drop? So much for that…Maybe. Kotaku has apparently obtained an early circular ad of Walmart, which shows that a price drop is planned for the first week of October. While the new price of the console was not printed on the ad, a $50 drop would seem most reasonable. For now, Nintendo of America has yet to comment on this rumor, but we’ll know if this is valid speculation soon enough. October is less than a month away after all.

Rumor: 3 other Tatsunoko vs. Capcom characters leaked
Posted on 15 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii | 2 Comments
We found out that Tekkaman Blade is being added to the new “version” of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom through Famitsu yesterday. But it looks like the other three characters have been leaked, too. Capcom opened a website for Ultimate All-Stars, and the code lists what appears to be the rest of the unannounced characters. The filenames discovered are oncharactor_btn_zero.jpg, oncharactor_btn_frank.jpg, oncharactor_btn_joe.jpg, and oncharactor_btn_tekkabla.jpg. In order, those names would most likely turn out to be Mega Man Zero, Frank West, Condor Joe, and Tekkaman Blade (which we know about already). It won’t be long before Capcom officially reveals the characters though, as TGS is just a few weeks away.
Rumor: Zelda trailer to be shown in October
Posted on 15 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Rumors | 5 Comments
There’s have been some considerably significant announcements made at October’s events in the past. Monster Hunter 3, Punch-Out!! and even the DSi made their debuts at the show. Now will Zelda Wii be following suit? A rumor has popped up concerning Link’s next adventure: Specifically that the first trailer of the title will be shown. Interestingly, Nintendo has yet to actually confirm their annual conference, but you can bet that there will be one this year. And who knows, maybe this rumor will hold true and we’ll finally see what the next Zelda title looks like on Wii.

Nintendo Power’s “major” DSi title may be a new Shantae game
Posted on 15 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in DS, Rumors | 2 Comments
As was posted a few days ago, Nintendo Power is teasing a “major” DSi title, which will be unveiled in the November issue. There hasn’t been much to go on, but now it appears that a new Shantae game may be the secret. Over at their Twitter, Way Forward posted, “Nintendo Power teasing a MAJOR DSiWare release in the next issue? AND it will make many gamers “very, very happy”? Hmmm.”
This still doesn’t prove anything of course. Right now, it still hasn’t been confirmed that the Twitter mentioned is the official account for the company. However, gamers know that WayForward has been teasing a new Shantae game over the past few months and DSiWare would make a perfect home for the series.
Rumor: Nintendo to make DSiWare game publishing easier for devs
Posted on 15 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in DS, Rumors | 0 comments
There has been a lot of buzz this week surrounding Sony’s Mini service for the PSP over the past few days. In some ways, the program is comparable to DSiWare, but Sony seems to be providing stronger support for developers. But rumor has it that Nintendo will be taking a similar approach.
The biggest improvement to DSiWare will allow developers to release their titles in an easier fashion. There will not be any changes in terms of pricing for content, but Nintendo will still have indirect control due to royalty rates. If, for instance, a developer were to create a game larger than 20MB for 500 points, then there would be a much higher royalty rate than if the size was under the 20MB restriction. Keep in mind that this is still speculation since Nintendo has not officially confirmed anything, though this would be a much welcomed advancement for DSiWare.
