Are these renders from Eternal Darkness 2?

NeoGAF member “Mama Robotnik” has written up a brilliant feature on Silicon Knights. The post goes well into detail regarding the studio’s early times, debacles, and cancelled projects.
Much has been said about Silicon Knight’s Eternal Darkness 2 (perhaps one of the studio’s most-anticipated yet not-officially-announced projects), but we’ve never seen any assets from the game. Screenshots have never popped up online, nor have concept arts of any kind.
Thanks to some findings by Mama Robotnik, we may finally have some renders/art from Eternal Darkness 2. A former Silicon Knights 3D character artist included the images below in a couple of folders that could very well be from the game.
The purple creature in particular was probably created for Eternal Darkness 2 based on the fact that Mantorok was the only surviving ancient. The other ancients were able to create red/blue/green undead monsters, so Mantorok would have likely made his own purple soldiers in the sequel.
Rumor: Capcom Arcade Cabinet heading to Wii U and 3DS eShops next year

Leaked artwork appears to reveal that Capcom Arcade Cabinet is on the way. While the images are Xbox Live Arcade-related, Pockett Videogames has apparently confirmed with its sources that Wii U eShop and 3DS eShop releases are planned as well.
Capcom Arcade Cabinet has not been officially announced. It also isn’t clear which games would be included in the collection, but the artwork hints at Ghosts ‘n Goblins, Commando, Gun.Smoke, Side Arms, 1943 and Black Tiger.
If Capcom Arcade Cabinet is a real thing, expect it on digital download services next year.
Club Nintendo not giving coins for more than 8 systems?

After attempting to register his 3DS XL, NeoGAF member “thewesker” was told by Club Nintendo that he would not be provided with a survey or coins. Apparently the first eight systems you register are eligible… and then you’re out of luck.
The strange thing is, other members have indeed been able to successfully register and earn coins for more than eight products. Could this be a new regulation? Maybe the situation is related to the recent Club Nintendo issues?
Wii U sells 308,570 units in Japan, software sales

Update: Precise data from Famitsu is in. Wii U sold 308,570 over the weekend. Other sales:
New Super Mario Bros. U – 170,563 units
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate – 110,159 units
Nintendo Land – 78,461 units
Gamekult is reporting, via Famitsu/Enterbrain, that the Wii U sold 307,471 units in Japan over the weekend.
Nintendo launched the new console on Saturday. If Gamekult is correct, Wii U managed to hit the 300,000 units sold mark in two days of availability.
The site also shared the following software sales data:
New Super Mario Bros. U – 160,140 (57.6% sell-through)
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate – 106,454 (72.6%)
Nintendo Land – 66,583 (30%)
ZombiU – 10,680 copies (28.8%)
Warriors Ororchi 3 Hyper – 7,252 copies (16.2%)
Tekken Tag Tournament 2: Wii U Edition – 4,951 copies (16.9%)
Nintendo Land’s sales are rather disappointing so far. Remember: the game isn’t bundled in either the Deluxe or Basic sets.
Wii U’s initial hardware sales stack up somewhat similarly to the Wii. When the old system hit store shelves in 2006, Media Create data revealed that it sold 350,358 units during its launch weekend. Top titles were Wii Sports (176,000 units sold), Wii Play (174,000 units sold) and Twilight Princess (139,000 units sold).
Rumor: Next Assassin’s Creed to take place in Brazil

Word on the street is that the next Assassin’s Creed game will take in Brazil. Ubisoft Brazil managing director Bertrand Chaverot, speaking with Techtudo, revealed the setting a few days ago.
While the rumor sounds plausible, don’t expect an official confirmation from Ubisoft anytime soon.
Rumor: Lots of details about the cancelled Guitar Hero 7

Guitar Hero games pretty much used to be a yearly series. Year after year Activision would churn out new entries.
But in 2010, Guitar Hero came to a screeching halt. Warriors of Rock was the last release, and it doesn’t sound like Activision will be refreshing it anytime soon.
Interestingly, before Activision put the hammer down on Guitar Hero, Vicarious Visions was working on Guitar Hero 7. It was only midway through its development that the project was canned and Guitar Hero entered retirement.

[Theory] Nintendo made rounded discs and a separate Wii channel for the same reason: Piracy prevention

It seems odd that Nintendo would choose to force you to boot up a separate channel altogether if you want to play Wii games/old downloaded titles on the Wii U, doesn’t it? After all, every prior backwards-compatible Nintendo console just lets you play previous-generation games in the same way that you play the proprietary games on the system. Even 3DS puts your DSiWare titles on the main menu, as though they’re eShop games.
So why the change?
Well, I have a theory. You know how Wii U discs have rounded edges? At first I thought that was just a nice little touch to make people enjoy touching the sides of their games more (which admittedly did happen), but after a real examination of it I came to the conclusion that it was probably done to prevent piracy. After all, if you illegally download a pirated Wii U game onto an regular disc– no matter how good your Wii U hack or homebrew channel is– the console will just say “Hey dude, this disc doesn’t have rounded edges! It must not be a real Wii U game!”, spitting it back out and thus preventing you from pirating Wii U games. At least until someone gets a workaround.
But wait!, I thought, If it can’t read “regular” edge’d discs, how will it read the good ol’ Wii discs!?
Thus we begin to understand why Nintendo might have put in a separate channel for Wii games. When you open up the channel, it tells the system “Okay dawg, reboot yourself and drop the whole ‘No Reading Regular Disc Shapes’ thing for a bit.”
Then when you go back into “Wii U” mode, it turns the safety check back on.
Just a thought. And I certainly wouldn’t be surprised if this was the case! Anyone else come to different conclusions?
Rumor: Rayman Legends releasing on February 26

Up to this point, Ubisoft has only offered a nebulous “Q1 2013” date for Rayman Legends. But based on a new report, a specific date of February 26 could be set.
We’ll wait for an official confirmation before getting too excited. If true though, the game would only be three months away from launching.
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed 3DS delayed to February?

Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed could be seeing another delay on the 3DS. Amazon as well as GameStop are now listing the game’s release date as February 12, 2013.
This update should only be treated as a rumor for now. Officially, SEGA has yet to confirm a final date for the portable racer.
Rumor: Hacker unearths more Wii U specs
