Rumors

The WiiWare demo program, although successful, was strangely halted in North America and Europe after just one batch was released. Wii owners were able to test out titles such as World of Goo and Bit.Trip Beat for a few months, but the sample downloads were removed towards the end of January. It seems the program may be making a return, however.

A number of different WiiWare developers have apparently told NintendoLife that the Big N recently started accepting submissions for a new wave of demos. It seems that the downloads will remain on the Wii Shop Channel until Christmas, at the very least. Hopefully this is a sign that we’ll start seeing demos more frequently in the future.

When Back to the Future: The Game was first announced, numerous sites reported that the project would be released on Wii, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, Mac, and iPad. Strangely, though, in Telltale’s latest press release, there was no mention of the game coming to Wii at all. I’m really hoping that whoever wrote the release simply forgot to mention Nintendo’s console, but considering the Wii logo isn’t even on the game’s official website, things aren’t looking good at the moment.

“Telltale Games announced today the platforms, release month and pricing for Back to the Future: The Game. The PC and Mac versions are expected to burst out of the time space continuum in December, followed shortly by the arrival of the game on PlayStation 3 system and iPad.”

I’d say that the image above is pretty legitimate, but consider it a rumor until Nintendo officially confirms the news. In any case, it looks like New Super Mario Bros. Wii will be included in the package, as will the original Wii Sports and Donkey Kong: Original Edition. Yesterday, we heard that Super Mario Bros. will come preinstalled in Japan. But in Europe, Nintendo appears to have swapped that game out for Donkey Kong. Now the only question is, will it feature a few, small changes similar to the items found in Super Mario Bros. Wii?

Nintendo just had a pretty big conference this week. There wasn’t a whole lot of Wii information, but one would assume that if the Big N had any important news to share about the console, they would have done so on Wednesday. Still, there’s speculation going around right now that there is a big announcement planned on October 11. Right now I wouldn’t put much faith in the rumor, though I’d guess that, if anything, Nintendo will share more details about Wii Remote Plus.

Oy vey. It’s time for yet another rumor surrounding the 3DS. Today’s edition of the German newspaper Bild claims to have information about the release date of the upcoming portable in Europe/Japan, as well as details regarding pricing and launch titles.

Bild states that the 3DS will arrive on November 11 in Japan this year, but sometime in the first quarter of 2011 in Europe. Mario Kart 3D, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, and Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle were listed as launch titles in the newspaper. There was one additional detail Bild shared – it will supposedly cost 200 euros.

Even though you should most definitely take this rumor with a big grain of salt, there are a few things that should be noted. Bild is the best-selling newspaper in Europe, and they’ve apparently secured news prior to announcements. In 2005, when Satoru Iwata was set to unveil the Wii’s controller for the first time at the Tokyo Game Show, Bild was told about it two days before Nintendo’s president delivered his speech. So I suppose you could say Bild has a bit more credibility than your average newspaper, but I’m still not quite sure what to make of this rumor. Fortunately, it’ll only be three more days until we start hearing official information about the 3DS.

“Huh? Oh, Gyakuten XX. I’m making it, with Mr. Takumi!” – Level-5’s Jiro Ishii’s Twitter

I positively love the Ace Attorney series, and while the Perfect Prosecutor spin-offs are very good games, I really feel the need to get back into the defendant’s booth and cross-examine some dudes! I really hope this ends up being true, because Level-5 is a great developer who I know could do wonderful things with the Ace Attorney name.

Side note: “Gyakuten XX” is the Japanese name for the series.

The image above – which is a confirmed picture from EA’s My Garden demonstration video at TGS – indicates what the backlit buttons would look like on the 3DS. It’s not exactly the biggest feature in the world, but I do think it’s a nice touch. What do you guys think? Is it something you like? Or do you just not care?! Tell us how you feel in the comments section!

Well, this is pretty interesting news! Granted that Nintendo Power didn’t make a typo, it looks like we’ll be seeing Cave Story on DSiWare in the future. We’ll keep you posted if any additional news arrives.
