Rumor: More than one Dragon Quest Wii title on the way
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii | 0 comments
Here’s Yuji Horii’s response when asked if he is worried about leaving consoles behind due to the focus on Dragon Quest for handhelds recently…
“No, the series got its start on consoles, so we aren’t thinking that way, especially since we’re working on Wii versions of Dragon Quest right now.”
That’s an interesting statement, don’t you think? Obviously Dragon Quest X is still in development. Are there other games in the series coming to the console as well? Or was this just a translation error?
Rumor: 3DS VC available at launch
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Rumors | 0 comments
This information comes from an IGN article, which claims that gamers will have access to the 3DS’ Virtual Console at launch…
“It’s important to note that some of these features, most notably the Virtual Console/e-Shop idea, will not be available out of the box, but will need to be downloaded from a Wi-Fi connection. Nintendo has clarified that the Virtual Console will be available immediately upon the launch of the 3DS.”
Hmm… Nintendo has said that the eShop won’t be available through May… and I’m under the impression that you purchase Virtual Console games from the store. So, how will this work?
Rumor: 3DS is region-locked
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Rumors | 0 comments
According to a Nintendo of Japan customer service representative, the 3DS will be region-locked. This means that if you import a Japanese system and attempt to play a North American game, it simply will not work.
As disappointing as the news is, I don’t think this should be a big surprise to anyone. After the DSi implemented region locking, there really was no going back. Nintendo has yet to officially comment on the issue, but I’d say this rumor is very likely.
Rumor: Nintendo changing name of 3DS analog stick
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Rumors | 0 comments
The information/image below comes from the latest Iwata Asks…
“And next are graphics of Nintendo characters generated in real time in the Nintendo 3DS system. This is the Circle Pad . You can change the camera angle with it.” – Satoru Iwata
Not official by any means, but it does appear likely that “Circle Pad” will be the final name for the 3DS analog stick. Not too big of a deal, though!
Thanks to Captain N for the tip!
Rumor: Monster Hunter likely heading to another platform, 3DS mentioned
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Rumors | 0 comments
Capcom’s CEO Haruhiro Tsujimoto has provided a brief quote to Gemaga about the Monster Hunter series. Tsujimoto mentioned the 3DS throughout an interview with the magazine, as well as in the quote itself. While it seems as though there was some sort of indication that Monster Hunter will be coming to the 3DS, the manner in which he phrased his words wasn’t entirely clear. So keep that in mind while reading the quote below:
“3DS is releasing, too, so (it seems like) the time to switch to a new platform is coming.”
Given the fact that Tsujimoto directly included the words “3DS” in his statement, it would appear that the franchise will eventually make its way to the platform. I would think that the possibility would be quite likely in any case, but it’d be nice if a clearer quote was given!
Rumor: Burnout Freestyle was in development for Wii and DS
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in DS, Rumors, Screenshots, Wii | 0 comments
Although the images above only show screenshots of what was allegedly Burnout Freestyle for DS, the game was supposedly in the works for the Wii as well. For one reason or another, Criterion stopped working on the project and the titles were cancelled.
Thanks to Chestah for the tip!
Rumor: Dragon Quest X logo, information in next V-Jump
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii | 0 comments
The image above is rumored to have come from Japanese magazine V-Jump, although no one has been able to verify that the logo is official. Meanwhile, Eurogamer Portgual has reported that the magazine will be unveiling the title in their next issue. To be honest, I’m quite skeptical about both points, but I wouldn’t mind if I was wrong!
Rumor: Dead or Alive: Dimensions and Samurai Warriors Chronicle to be North American 3DS launch titles
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Rumors | 0 comments
According to Siliconera, Tecmo Koei is readying two titles for the launch of the 3DS in North America. The site is reporting that both Dead or Alive: Dimensions and Samurai Warriors Chronicle will be available on day one. Tecmo Koei has apparently said that the games will be released before the end of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2011. While this does sound likely, consider this a rumor until we receive an official announcement.
Rumor: Indie devs getting 3DS dev kits in January
Posted on 14 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Rumors | 0 comments
3DS development kits have been in the hands of numerous companies for quite some time now. However, indie developers have yet to obtain their own kits. On the bright side, it seems as though they won’t have to wait much longer to get their hands on the system.
According to a “trusted source” close to Develop-Online, Nintendo will be handing out another round of development kits in early 2011 – more specifically, January. With that said, many independent and internal groups have started making titles for the handheld.
